That's how I used to feel, then I started posting in there and was welcomed and treated as one of their own straight away. There are lots of lovely people in there - just jump in and get involved if you want to!

Yes, it may be a friendly and welcoming Inn but the point Mansey has been trying to make is, if people want to discuss a topic (as within the 'getting the memo' threads), the conversations would be lost within the Inn as it is regularly updated with general musings and chatter. The 'getting the memo' threads contained no nastiness, witch hunting, !!!!!iness or naming and shaming but they were removed, whereas, The Inn allows members to chat about anything and it is left alone.

  • I survived ten years in the debates section of a parenting board (I won't name it as I'm sure it will shut this thread down).

Oh my word! It was mostly unregulated, especially in the evenings and at weekends. To compare those threads with the "Miss the Memo" thread is like comparing full-on, street-fighting, gang-warfare with a gentle episode of Playschool #whydoesfloellabenjaminneverage?

Because so few of them can dance.

I agree - I have only once or twice dipped into the Inn because it easily gets swamped with people announcing what they are having for dinner or what their offspring are doing. Nothing against that - but it doesn't interest me and it's nothing to do with comping. So Compers Chat should be the place for discussion of comping and light-hearted comparison of techniques is part of that. The "memo" thread did get a bit mocking of some people's extreme approach - but it wasn't (knowingly) directed at anyone here and all the posts etc. quoted were in the public domain.

If there was someone here who got quoted and laughed at - then maybe they could learn a little of how they are coming across from it. Or prove us wrong by showing how effective sob stories are ?
I need to think of something new here...

As this thread has been closed I have decided to no longer post comps on MSE. It has been pointed out that copying and pasting competition texts from social media and websites is against the rules (ie compers should be typing up the comp in their own words), and I don't have the time to do this! Sorry!

So basically 99% of compers are therefore breaking this rule on the main comp board and getting away with it but if a comper breaks the same rule by copying and pasting text from social media sites in the CCC then they are penalised! Itis all wrong!

I think this should be in a new thread Bella so more people see it.

Just imagine if every comp that had chunks copied and pasted from Social Media were reported and removed, wouldn't be much of a competition forum then would it?

Maybe then more people would take notice of what several of us have been saying.

One rule for one and another for another just isn't fair :(

Just post a link to the comp.

Just post a link to the comp.

It still doesn't get away from the fact that 99% of compers are breaking a rule on the main comps board and getting away with it but anyone breaking the same rule in the CCC are getting their posts removed!

I don't know anything about that (I don't really bother myself with what others do) I was answering your point in bold.

because the Forum Team only have time to deal with reports, (which I think I've mentioned before!) not read the whole forum every day, I'm sure now that this rule about posting comps has been brought up everywhere there will be plenty of reports going in, so they'll be fully aware of it
