Bought new car, old car uninsured for test drives
Just bought a new car which I had to swap my insurance over with but that leaves me in a dilemma with selling my old car. As it is not covered by my insurance or any insurance for that matter, its now sat on my drive and I wont be able to take it out for test drives with potential buyers. What do I do now?

Sell it to a dealer or dont let anyone drive it as you can get 6 points if they are not insured.
Only direct line I am aware of will cover thier policy holders to drive other cars without insurance held upon them, thats why they charge a bit more, good service costs money these daysI do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
You can't just leave it uninsured.
Either insure it or SORN it
(It still needs insuring whilst parked on your drive)0 -

No.
Unless it's SORN it must be insured (and taxed too!)0 -

No! It must be insured at all times irrespective of where it is unless its SORN.
You misunderstood the way SORN works.
If you SORN then that means it cannot be on a "public" road at all.0 -
If you don't want to sell to a dealer then what you could have done was SORN the new car until you had sold the old one privately then transfer the insurance. It might still be possible but you could be charged 2 admin fees.0

I already asked my insurer, Sheila's wheels if they could insure both temporarily and they said no. I will SORN it, didnt realise cars still need to be insured even if its just sat on the drive. But then I still have the dilemma of what to do when someone wants to test drive it. Gah!0
