One day hire of a pressure washer is £60+.

That still leaves £190 for labour ... there must be plenty of people, even sons .... who might wish to earn £100 one random day in the next 3 months!

I thought you were going to say the little man cost you £50-60 and I was going to fall over :)

At £250 I'd have a holiday and leave the drive as it was.

Evening all. Had a nice trip to Inner Herts today. Waved in the general direction of Ringo and MichaelS whom I believe is also in the vicinity but I may be confused!

Interview I think went well! It was very much one of those see if we like you kind of interviews, which as an HR bod I'm not really used to. Very nice change. We chatted quite a lot about music, cooking, chess and some stuff that was relevant to the work. He spent some time selling the role and the firm to me, and talked a lot about others they had hired with a similar profile to me.

If I get it will mean my life taking a rather different direction. Which is quite exciting :)

    Hope you're all well.

Glad it went well. michaels is in a different town to ringo. You'd definitely need a car if you were working anywhere near ringo - no train line over there!

I don't think ringo has ever joined the NP.

    Definitely losing it!

It wasn't *too* far from Ringo. I was sure he joined the NP... If he didn't then he's the right profile, and probably should :P

It looks like DS2 has passed all the checks for renting a flat. Interesting as he is still on probation and the 3 months bank statements he had to supply clearly show that he has only been paid since he started work!

Most of the time as long as they can charge you for carrying out the checks they're not bothered.

A pal of mine moved to London last year without a job. Said to the prospective landlady that he would pay 3 months rent up front while he found work. She insisted that he pay for a credit check. £125. (Would have cost her a fraction of that to actually do it.) Of course he protested that he would likely fail the check anyway, being unemployed, and what difference did it make if he was paying up front for the 3 month contract? Why do it? He was paying for the three months, and would leave if he couldn't prove that he had a job by the end of it.

If he wasn't willing to stump up for said credit check someone else would though, of course.

The very best of luck Masomnia. I really hope that it is good news for you.

    .
It doesn't work like that, once he's in he's got a minimum of 6 months, during which time he might not pay a penny in rent - and then stay on and the LL would have the hassle of removing him ... during which time, still no rent paid and he could be trashing the place.

People aren't taken on face value these days.... that's just how it used to work. Not now. "An Englishman's bond lasts until he gets the keys in his sweaty hand" is the unspoken understanding from the side of the person taking the financial risk.

    Who's Ringo??
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Yes, fingers crossed for you Masomnia. Really hope this works out for you if it's what you'd like.

As to Ringo, he's just making a guest appearance on Paul's new album I think. Both the worst of the Beatles in my view.

    Different Ringo possibly?
