I posted earlier about travel insurance. I can amend my current policy to get cover for USA and Caribbean.:T

For only another £223. That is in addition to the annual policy, which cost £226.

Not going to take it up until firmed up on a trip. As a step up in cover it still feels like a big hike. :(

    Great chart.

Flatcoats are in thetop lh corner of overlooked treasures.

When we got Sedge, our first dog (29 years ago)we had only met one . An elderly gamekeeper we got chatting to in a pub was accompanied by the waggiest smiliest dog we had ever seen. In that instante our desire for a St Bernard wained. A lot less slobber too.

The chart could be improved by grading slobber and waggiest tail

Did you notice that they put a cat in the chart, and it scored higher than most of the dogs!

I noticed that they left "little brown mongrel from Battersea" off the chart for some reason.

Better than most dogs perhaps, but not our dog!;)

ivyleaf, not sure if you've seen this article from the Grauniad. There are some useful replies in the comments! :rotfl:  And a quick sum up of many of the problems with the bl**dy PACE trial. I just wish the Grauniad would stop picking on ME patients the way it does and actually looked at the scandal surrounding White's refusal to release anonymised data from the trial to bona fida scientists. :( Grrrr! :(

Thank you Maggie! I've just got to the bit where she asserts that ME/CFS isn't triggered by flu. Where on earth did she get that from? I know 2 people whose ME was indeed triggered by flu, including my best friend's husband.

I'll persevere anyway, then read the comments.

    Random geography question.

Moreton-in-Marsh is some town in the cotswolds. Anyone any insight how to get there by public transport from Manchester? (Or at least near enough to take a taxi). All I can find is a train journey of over 3 hours with 2 changes.

Can you get to Banbury? Or Leamington Spa?

Edit: just looked at national rail enquiries... There are trains from Manchester Picadilly to Bournemouth that stop at both Leam and Banbury (and Oxford). Looking at a map, think Id go for Banbury. Don't bother with Stratford, it's a slow local line from Birmingham.

Or go to Cheltenham (calls there on the Picadilly to Plymouth train)?

Both those can be done without changes on trains, but think it's about 2h for both. Plus 10-15 miles in a taxi.

I put this journey into Google maps and it said 12 hours by bike or 39 hours on foot. So does that make 3 hours by train seem any better?

We are going on an Alaska cruise and so will be spending time in the USA and Canada. To get cover for pre-existing conditions, USA and a cruise is probably about the worst combination possible. Luckily no winter sports.
Premium was £350 for single trip, £450 for annual (and that was with the higher excesses). Bought the annual, which means we have to go away on holiday again to make the most of it (think that's a bit man maths, even though I'm female..)
So your quote doesn't look too bad to me!
My spreadsheet of all actual and estimated costs for the holiday is pretty scary reading.
