Sheringham has become a hotbed of crime, as this excerpt from the local rag shows:LOCAL POLICE NEWS
DAMAGE CAUSED TO TRAIN STATION PLATFORM - SHERINGHAM
Officers from Sheringham are appealing for witnesses to come forward
after damage was caused to the newly laid concrete at the heritage train station.
At some point on the evening of the Sheringham Christmas light
‘switch on’, Friday 18th November, offenders have jumped on to unset
concrete leaving several deep foot prints.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the
incident or has information relating to it.
Witnesses should contact PCSO Royston Seabrook on 101 or call
Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their
Anonymous Online Form at https://www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
The steam train is a big tourist attraction. I shall be going tomorrow first thing, and I shall ask to be shown the famous footprints. Hopefully, nobody has done something daft and filled them in.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
jumped on to unset concrete
I'd have not had unset concrete anywhere near the great unwashed public - there's always an idiot, aged 6 to 66 who thinks it's funny.....
Signs saying "wet concrete" are seen as a "DO IT NOW" sign!0 -

Instead of futilely calling the police over this dreadful incident, I'd have filled the footprints in with a contrasting colour concrete. It would just be an added bit of fun for the punters. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

There was a bbc article about it a short while back pointing out that in the 60s so many tv and music celebrities became household names and we'll need to get used to the current rate of celebrity deaths.
Quite so. "Everything in moderation" seems to be the lesson nobody famous ever learns.
It's quite galling that when they ask young people what they want to be for a career, it's sport or showbusiness that are the popular choices. We don't want to be burying our children young like Debbie Reynolds. ;(
Josh's answer used to be batman or entomologist. Still can't work out where he got to know the word but he certainly knew it at a very young age.
The other two had no idea when they were young, James decided on geologist in high school but a muck up on his GCSE choices put paid to that. Joe had no idea until about 2 years ago and it hasn't changed since. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

So has anyone else got memories of concrete handprints?
Yonks ago, my children's and mine plus the date were put into a bit of concrete over a new drain.
Years later, the spot had to be dug up for some more work to be done, but the builder very kindly excised the two square feet of concrete where the hand prints were! Have still got it propped up in the garden.
God knows what happened to the one I did as a child in my then back garden.
For the same sentimental reason, the piece of pine wall cladding with the children's increasing heights marked over the years, was carefully removed when I moved house, and another plain piece put in its place.
That piece of pine is very precious! :rotfl:I still have no idea(I just lurve spiders!)

I said to my daughter, aged about 5, "You know, you can be anything you want to be" to which the reply was "I want to be a fairy".
She was never a very girly girl so I don't know where that one came from!0 -

Years ago, when stars used to attend opening nights of new movies at Leicester Square, the used to put their palm-prints and names into wet concrete, in much the same way as they do in Hollywood at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Unfortunately you can't find them any more as they were removed during a redevelopment in 2011. There were plans to return them at some point but don't think it's happened yet. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
