I don't think I have it, but I do think in general one would have it unless it were specifically removed.

    Ah, gotcha.

I don't have a garage - it was the only box that this house didn't tick.
However, I would probably have only used it to store "stuff" or do workshop stuff and I have the cupboard under the stairs, the loft, a small shed, a large shed/workshop, a brick outbuilding and a greenhouse - more than enough places to store "stuff", so I was happy to not get a garage.

    Morning all.

SingleSue, I have a treat box as well, although since getting told off at the hospital earlier this year, the treats have been cereal bars and nuts.

Not this week though, the box is filled with all sorts of Christmassy treats and there are so many we have a treat cupboard as well. Obviously not all for me though!

    Happy Christmas Eve everyone.

Hehe Jazee, ours has been pretty much empty since September with maybe the occasional thing in it. Josh came home last weekend and moaned there was no treats in the house, now he is moaning that there are treats in the house but he is not allowed to touch them.....

Quite right too, they're for Christmas. I had two fondant fancies last night though.

    It is Christmas!

All this build up for one day is so sad because it's stressful and the focus becomes on the goal, not the game. I am choosing to enjoy all of it. All of it is a gift.

I use the prep to take my mind off the fact that I used to enjoy Christmas, if I didn't, I would probably be in a corner crying. I go through the motions and keep busy so that the younger ones in the family still have good memories building up.

I tried having a Christmas tree a couple of years ago to see if that improved things...it didn't, it just made me more depressed for what we used to have (not in a financial way), now it just brings back memories which are painful.

    Okey-dokey.

So far I have been to Marks (they opened at 7.00 and I was there at ten to), to get my turkey dinner, and several other bits including a parsnip, Camembert and butternut squash pie for Boxing Day.

Then I popped into Sainsbury's to get some other stuff including loo cleaner and a selection box of malt whiskies, plus printer paper and printer ink, a diary and a calendar, as I couldn't find my favourite cheap ones anywhere. Plus a few more nibbly things.

Then I came home, sorted out and restocked the fridge, washed some rocket and watercress, (which I hate doing), cooked(aka microwaved) lunch, which was these shredded beef dumpling things that had to be eaten today, had a swig of Jura single malt, and am now in bed watching my recording of The Last Leg, and it's not even 10.30 yet! :rotfl:

It was strange, 'cos I went early, expecting the place to be heaving by nine o'clock (it is a shopping centre with free parking), and yes, Marks Food Hall was busy but not unnavigable, and likewise Sainsbury's.
When I left, there were still loads of places in the car park.

I remember one year, about 1994 or 1995, I went into Bath at the crack of dawn on Christmas Eve to go to Marks buy the Christmas meal......didn't live there...it's a long story....... And it was heaving at 7.00 am and things were disappearing out of the chiller cabinets at the rate of knots. A couple of things I'd wanted had already sold out!

    Quite a contrast this morning.

I have never had lobster, a proper lobster. Marks had some half-lobsters, ready cooked and dressed with lobster mousse and asparagus. PASTURES! LOOK AWAY NOW! :D
£22 . (Serves two, but I can be piggy when it comes to seafood).

Anyway, I know that I don't like dressed crab, as the dressing spoils the texture and the taste, in my experience;I much prefer bare crab. So I thought that £22 would be a lot to waste if I didn't particularly like the dressing on it. So I desisted.
They had a lobster Thermidore as well, but I decided similarly.

I may rethink at New Year, if they still have them

    I echo those sentiments entirely.

Apart from special food treats and malt whiskies, there's nothing remotely Christmassy in my house. It's easier to sort of ignore it.
This is the first year I haven't gone abroad to escape.

(In past years, people would ooh-aah at my tree, my decorations, my dining table groaning with sparkling amber glassware and special lights).

    Wow, you're winning, Pyxis!

Did they start the whole 24 opening thing in the 90s? I remember much bigger queues back then, but maybe it was just living in London and things being busier in general. I remember dumping a trolley really late at night because we couldn't be doing with the queue and a newish baby.

We have a new M&S with a 'secret' carpark that many people haven't found yet. I parked on Thursday in one of the nearest bays to the Foodhall door and there was loads of choice despite the place being really busy.
