If you want to get a good price for your property then make it of interest to me. Both the last two places we have looked at have gone for 'well over the asking price'
If your area is anything like mine, prices have gone stupid in the last year and sellers now have very inflated ideas of what their home is worth.
My prediction is that there will be a drop in 3 yrs time. There are a load of new build flats around here that have been sold to young people buying together - friends, siblings and couples. They have all bought under help to buy with a government loan of 20% that needs to be either repaid in 5 years or the interest rate rockets. Too many are going to come for sale at the same time, either to repay the loans or because the pairings are splitting or the couples needing room for babies.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. York is off the list again, looking at the course it wasn't quite what he wanted with too much not related to what he wants to do.
Portsmouth now on the list and is in 3rd place with UCA dropping to 4th. Lincoln and NUA still joint top place, talking of Lincoln, we are going for an open day there this weekend and staying overnight Friday night (train would never have got us there anywhere near the start leaving on Saturday morning). Both of us are looking forward to exploring the Castle and maybe the cathedral whilst there. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I over-strained my shoulder and my left arm has been more or less out of action since yesterday. I now have firsthand experience of what lots of people have to cope with on a daily basis. We live in a bilateral world, and lots of things are really hard to do with just one hand. There are gadgets to help, and I would invest in these if this were going to be long term, but how do you butter toast with just one hand for example ?
It is not serious, and it is getting better already, but this has been an Eye opening experienceNo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I had a spell of "trigger thumb" in my right hand a few years ago, to the extent that it was painful to fully close the thumb or grip anything. That really brought home to me the importance of the "opposable digit" that sets us apart from most other species.but how do you butter toast with just one hand for example ?
Not sure how easy it would be to unpin it with only one arm when it's been spread though, I'll leave that as an exercise for the student
(*) one "could" just pin it to the table, but the better/worse half might notice and object0 -

You have my sympathy. I lost some weight when my arm was broken as I couldn't even open packets of biscuits.:cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
That's what teeth are for......hold in one hand, bring to mouth and rip open. Might be a few broken ones on the floor though (biscuits, not teeth!)We made it! Lincoln is a lovely city for a weekend and the cathedral is really beautiful.I over-strained my shoulder and my left arm has been more or less out of action since yesterday. It's not until you have a temporary disability that you realise how lucky you are. Then you go back to 'normal' and forget all about it again.0 -
....how do you butter toast with just one hand ?
Put the tub on the floor and put your foot on it.
With your good hand, prise open the corner of the tub.
Put the tub on the worktop, pull the top off entirely; get a knife.
Get some spread on the knife.
Jam the handle of the knife in the drawer, pressing your belly against the drawer to hold the knife tight.
Wipe the toast across the knife/spread.
Simple ...I couldn't even open packets of biscuits.
Biscuits between knees - use a sharp knife to cut wrapper round 1-2 end biscuits.0 -

But what about more expensive detached/semis - loads of roads in St Albans are now breaking through £1m for what were bog standard 3 bed semis now extended to 4/5 beds. I am sure just 2 years ago such properties were 'worth' 6-700k.
We were looking at a 3 bed semi requiring complete refurb with a 40 foot garden and it looks like it will go for well over the £1m asking price.
Previously we looked at a 2 bed end of terrace ex LA requiring complete refurb with no parking in a less salubrius part of town which went for well over the 350k asking priceI think....0 -

I know. Same here.
Friends daughter just announced she is splitting up with boyfriend, so will need to sell their 1 bedroom flat they bought as a new build a year ago for £220k. They have just had it valued at £310k. That is 90k or 40% increase in one year! Downside is neither has the equity to buy the other out.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
