Pastures, did you realise that Money for Nothing has started again?
Two wooden old 'dining' chairs - seats recovered. £200 parts/labour, no buyer (at the time of airing), so a £200 loss at that point. Two chairs ... two chairs £200. Nuts I say!
An old rusty vice from a shed - turned into (bizarrely) a wall lamp - chap called Guy Trench I think she said. I'd not want to 'risk' hanging the weight of an old vice on the wall attached to electrical wires! She sold that to a dealer of quirky !!!!!! in Berwick upon Tweed. £95 labour/materials. It sold for £115, profit £20.
There was also a table but that was before I switched on.
What a load of old tosh.0 -

Quirky !!!!!!!
I love that!
It would make a cracking name for shop of curios! :rotfl:
The thing about the programme is, 1) yes, a lot of it is staged; to be fair, they can't have her hanging around the dump on the off-chance that someone turns up with something she can use, so they must have scouts out rounding people up to return on a particular day with their stuff to be filmed.
But 2) it does make people look at their chuck-outs with a different eye, and maybe see value in something that they might have a go at doing, not necessarily to sell at a huge profit, but to be able to use an item again.
The other day, there was an Ercol folding table, that had the panels coming apart, one had dropped off, the legs were wobbly and there were water and heat stains all over it. (Ercol made very good wooden furniture).
The guy took it apart, re-glued it, sanded it all down to remove the marks, oiled the surface and painted the edges and the legs in black gloss. It looked wonderful! I'd have had it! Plus folding tables are very desirable in today's smaller houses.
I was very impressed.
I wonder if there are any photos.................
Edit...There are, but my Photobucket album won't load. Grrrrr!

I wasn't so impressed with the sunlounger, mainly because she's sewn 3D 'buds' onto the potato-print leaves and stems, and I thought all those little nobbles would be uncomfortable if you were lying on them!
The two side chairs were good though, and without the sheepskin shawls, would make a good re-upholstery project for a novice.(I just lurve spiders!)

York is off the list again, looking at the course it wasn't quite what he wanted with too much not related to what he wants to do.
Portsmouth now on the list and is in 3rd place with UCA dropping to 4th. Lincoln and NUA still joint top place, talking of Lincoln, we are going for an open day there this weekend and staying overnight Friday night (train would never have got us there anywhere near the start leaving on Saturday morning). Both of us are looking forward to exploring the Castle and maybe the cathedral whilst there.
It is on a VERY steep hill with cathedral at top. A wheelchair being pushed up would be extremely hard work for someone and terrifying on the way back down. Just thought you should be aware, to plan your routes before you go. Instant street view might help.0 -
Shame York is off the list.
I thought it had the best of both worlds....... A campus environment, but within walking distance of the Cathedral/The Shambles etc.(I just lurve spiders!)

Goodness, I haven't been there either and always assumed it would be fairly flat! We may go to that area to see BIL soon, with a view to spending a day in Lincoln, so I'm really glad to have had that warning. Neither of us uses a wheelchair, but both have mobility problems. Thank you, Loanranger :A
Silly of me to assume Lincoln would be flat when, come to think of it, BIL's village has a steep hill0 -
Slightly hesitantly opened the 2017 contracts bidding today.
I say slightly, this is the first time it's been done without financing in place, however due to various issues previously mentioned, need to do it in the 'wrong' order this year.
Also looking at a number (around 20x this year) of live music events in the UK for 2017, plus an increase in Europe, so I'm wondering how this is actually going to pan out, however it was planned anyway.💙💛 💔0 -

Found out the asking price for the (not built yet) new builds identical to mine, next door, by the same developer. £265-275k. I was wondering how much they'd be asking. The half-details say ready 2017.
3-bed EoT is £305k.0 -

Taking plenty of money (well hopefully if ex pays the maintenance), so that we can take advantage of a taxi or 3.
Funny re street view, have spent many nights discovering Lincoln via that source. Steep Hill really is steep! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
