DW's verdict on the Sheringham Theatre: "Excellent home made scones in the bar, and the loos are nice and clean."
Hopefully, nobody from the theatre will see this.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
That's where supermarket-type shops might be better for him, because they have aisles.
Break the shop down into chunks, with each aisle being a chunk.
Break the aisle down into left side and right side.
Break a side down into strides.....look at the shelves in front of you, then take one stride down and look at that section of shelves, and so on. (Or you can go along shelf by shelf if that's better).
(I have ADHD, and often have to chunk stuff, otherwise it all just swims in front of me! Which is why I often miss signs, as they are all either swimming, or I over-focus on a narrow beam and miss them!
NB......don't worry about my driving.......I've learned to scan while driving, and if for some reason there's a lot of stuff, like on a busy High Road on market day, I slow right down!)
Department stores with randomly-placed rails and counters are more difficult, because they are harder to chunk.
Boots the chemist used to be easy, but for some reason I find their 'horizontal' aisle configurations (going across the store) harder than their former 'vertical' configurations (going down the length of the store), IYSWIM.
Strange, as they're still chunkable.
Oh god he is worse in supermarkets....too much choice! He does better in very small shops with very limited choices.
It's why he is struggling with uni choices, he would be better off if he was told to chose one out of two, giving him a whole list of universities to chose from and asking him to pick 5 (he won't leave an empty space) is a personal nightmare for him.

Could be worse. I remember seeing really big stores like Stop'n'Shop in the US that stretched for what seemed like miles. They'd have uncountable breakfast cereals including all the ones we know and a good deal more besides then slightly different versions of each one low in sodium, and so on. They'd have shelves with different types of tomato ketchup and instead of brown sauce there would be a small section of familiar-looking HP Steak Sauce with an unfamiliar taste and texture.
I remember wandering the length and breadth of one and giving in and finding an assistant and when I told him I was looking for pate, suggested I meant liver spread, and didn't have any and would I like meatloaf instead.

I find that shopping at Walmart in the US zag. I can't buy fromage frais, but I can buy myself a gun and ammunition. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I recall seeing bars in the US which hired armed police (in uniform) where we would have bouncers. Mind you they sold cocktails in laundrettes as they could be like singles bars, because that's the clientele they attracted.
HAMISH had a great graphic about how many Americans got killed by being shot by Americans. It's slightly creepy having a market where you can buy other citizen's deaths. I pass a gunshop on my way to work every day but it's clearly for hunters and not people who kill humans (although ironically it's next door to a funeral parlour).:oThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

It's why he is struggling with
To be honest it's why I've never actually got round to looking into it. I don't really understand + there's too many choices to work through. I couldn't even follow what courses any one had as the titles are too varied and confusing.
I don't know who writes that fluff, but it's written for people who like fluff
I'd want a bullet list to choose from of reasons/outcome of doing any one course.
I'll clearly never get round to it now I guess.... I should've .... but was overwhelmed by the local place's website etc....0 -
Great fun first thing this morning...our train was cancelled and rail replacement organised but because the rail replacement 'bus' (it's a coach with lots of steps up) is not suitable, they organised a taxi for us to Ipswich...works out cheaper for them as my claim for the tickets (rail delay thingy) would have been almost double the cost of a taxi.
So we are still on target to arrive when we should have in Lincoln...phew.We made it! Another food fail moment. Returned to the new store for another go. Unfortunately, due to its newness, it was bunged with people having a look and going round doing their first shop there and the tills were slow as it's the staff's 2nd real day and so were encountering issues that needed the "man with the key to go into the till" to attend their enquiries.
I looked around - difficult to have a good look as you're "in the way" of people who DO know what they're doing .... so, while pondering, you do have to "shuffle along now, you're in the way" even if nobody says it
Saw lots of things I COULD have .... but, again, couldn't make a decision. So I ended up just buying "my usual basics" and leaving. So nothing exciting to eat for lunch today as I've just got muffins, eggs, bread, mini cheesecakes .... and a crafty small pack of Jaffas (I felt I deserved something that wasn't too hard to decide about).
Sitting here now, I COULD have bought one of their Cornish pasties and a 2.5Kg of spuds .... and had pasty/mash/beans for lunch.... but even if I go back now I'll, again, be struck with indecision about that choice0
