Went out to find a 6 year old had crawled under the rear of my car.

An extra problem I have is the so called assessor keeps going on about the MSO (musculoskeletal observations) show that I have normal grip in hands and normal movement with no muscle wastage in both upper and lower limbs. I've been in touch with Dr Shepherd (MEA medical advisor) who tells me that muscle wasting is rare in ME and usually only affects the severely affected who are bed-bound and/or housebound. In fact assessor uses the MSO in about 5 of the descriptors to lose me points. She was nice as pie on the day... Oh, and she says I don't need a wheelchair because it's a borrowed one and wheelchair wasn't prescribed by a medical professional.

As you may have gathered I'm part of the wide awake club tonight, having slept most of the day due to general sleep problems - got out of kilter on the sleep wake cycle.

Hmm, maybe she was one of those who still thinks (yes, even after all this time), that ME is just a state of mind or one of those dangerous ones who think they have all the knowledge when in fact, they don't.

My wheelchair was not prescribed by a medical professional as such, physio thought it a good idea, doctor retrospectively said well done, good move but not physically prescribed because (as the doc said) I could get one much quicker privately and of course, if I bought it, less pressure on the NHS budget. Without my chair, we wouldn't be able to go out anywhere....prescribed or not, doesn't make it any less real or needed.

Grr, people like this who think they know (or just deny an illness/disability exists), really really annoy me.

I have chronic fatigue as part of my problems, I know what it feels like and at times, it plays a bigger part of what I am able to do than my joints being shot to pieces or my spine/nerves being beggered.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I have not seen the deleted posts, but I think it is time to involve the local community policing team and/or the local councillor in the situation regarding burglaries, theft of items left for charity collection and dangerous play activities (eg under cars). This is escalating quickly and someone needs to take charge.

I agree, but I can't see PN feeling able to do this, or to ask someone else to :( Hopefully someone else will do it off their own bat!

If you want to pass your genes on, it's obviously a good idea to look after your offspring. Which may mean keeping them close to home.

Yet, every so often a catastrophe happens, and the offspring who are not so close to home are the ones that survive. So, giving your offspring opportunities to roam may also be a good way to pass your genes on. Maybe when the offspring are a bit older than 6, though. :)

I have some cardboard boxes of "stuff" to send to Germany. (About 600 miles by road.) A small van-load. What's the most economical way to do this, folks? None of it is particularly well wrapped, by the way.

I must admit, it really pi$$es me off when parents allow their kids to be a nuisance to neighbours.
I would have died rather than allow mine to kick a ball at a neighbour's fence or mess around by their cars.

Not only that, but it is soooo stressful, waiting for the doof doof to start up, or the screeches, and wondering what's happening to your car.
I had a tiny weeny experience of this in past years, and that was with older children whose parents I knew, and whom I could speak to if it got too much, and that was bad enough. :(
    Poor Pastures.

I keep trying to make "helpful" suggestions, that aren't helpful for PN at all. What I don't understand is why other families aren't doing anything about it?

I like the sound of kids playing, so it wouldn't be me complaining to the parents. But I'm surprised that none of PN's neighbours are complaining.

I'm tempted to suggest hiring a small van and taking it there yourself, but I assume that's not quite what you had in mind :D

If it can be written down to tax, it might be a good way of delivering it! :D
