    I must admit, I think that personalised number plates are great fun! They always liven up a boring journey!

    Best one I ever saw was MR 51 NHG - and the driver was indeed wearing a turban.

    I have succumbed to the dreaded stereotyping disease, of assuming a haulage person is male.

    According to this recent article, 8% aren't;

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37236082

    The Eddie Stobart Trucks & Trailers series did at least one episode about their female drivers too.

    LOL - I have given one or two clues, including one extremely blatant one, over the last few months.

    Anyway, I get loads of people telling me what they think I am - and it's never got anything to do with gender :rotfl:

    I *think* that is misleading. Around 1% are actual truckdrivers - there is no way that of regular working truck drivers, the figure is 8%.

    Found it
    https://www.rha.uk.net/events/shesrha

    Statistically, only 1% of the HGV driver population are women - and those in other roles within haulage are indubitably poorly represented.

    The amount of women who actually run a haulage company is probably about the same or even less, especially those who didn't marry into the business.

    I have not seen any clues as to wether you are male or female chris_m....I wouldn';t like to guess either!

    Definitely a poor representation, especially as, according to that article, there is far less requirement for brawn nowadays.

    I guess it's a similar thing to why there aren't many top racing drivers who are women - historically it hasn't been seen as a career choice for girls.
    That's something Susie Wolff is trying to work on - having decided she's never going to get a chance to drive in F1 races (she has done testing but never got any further), she's quit that and has set up Dare To Be Different (https://daretobedifferent.org/) to try and encourage girls and young women to think that it might be a choice for them after all. Good on her, I hope it gets results.
