I like to think I would have been better at spotting the signs in person...but who knows.
Went to pick up from football practice last night, decided it was best if I stood slightly apart from the other parents and just watched the end of practise as if someone had asked me what I thought about the teams new 'ambition' I would have told the truth - may be I am a bit on that spectrum after all....I think....0 -

Isn't a VX220 incredibly hard to get in and out of? Obviously, bellydancing kept you in trim, so you could manage the car.
Yes buy a VX, save a fortune in yoga classes. My friends were soon divided into those who could get into it, those who could get in if the roof was off and those that knew if they ever got in would have to stay in:DPoo
I have annoyed DG by mistake and was too insensitive to realise how much I was annoying her and stop digging
Given my general social faux pas I am surprised anyone could have doubted my gender once, let alone 4 times
I always thought you were a bloke. Sometimes there's a clash between something that isn't phrased well with no malice intended and something that touches a nerve on an off day.I like to think I would have been better at spotting the signs in person...but who knows.

So would I, I always do....but I am generally tactful.0 -

Own up, who typed 71077345 into their calculator so that it read SHELL OIL upside down?!!I guess it's a similar thing to why there aren't many top racing drivers who are women - historically it hasn't been seen as a career choice for girls.
That's something Susie Wolff is trying to work on - having decided she's never going to get a chance to drive in F1 races (she has done testing but never got any further), she's quit that and has set up Dare To Be Different (https://daretobedifferent.org/) to try and encourage girls and young women to think that it might be a choice for them after all. Good on her, I hope it gets results.
There was an interview on the TV today, I think, with 2 sisters who have grown up around the rallying circuit and have ambitions to compete at the top level in the next few years.
I'm female but people tend to assume I'm male as 'Yorkie's aren't for girls' ...!0 -
It's extremely hard to pick up on nuances on a forum, because there's no body language to observe. You can't see the flicker of embarrassment, annoyance or anger that might briefly cross someone's face in response to something said in all innocence.
You can only get what you get from posts. I do find emoticons helpful in that respect.
I mean, take "I hate you". That could mean anything.
However, there's a world of difference between:
I hate you.
I hate you.
and
I hate you.or

Is that a neighbour's plan to keep the brats away?

That's good, PN. Maybe someone got the plod round to have a quiet word with the parents of the ones who actually live there, fingers crossed!
Yorkie I always assumed you were female and that you simply happen to be from Yorkshire
Poor OH has received 3 unsolicited catalogues of what he disparagingly terms "old men's clothes" in the post today.
I pointed out that if it's any consolation, I should apparently be due to begin liking the idea of floral polyester shirtwaister dresses
We did join the Mailing Preference Service (or whatever it's called )ages ago, these are obviously companies (probably owned by the same overall company) who bought his details from another company!0 -

There's another one there now that's been parked up for at least 20 minutes or so. In the main I don't notice them, even though they're right outside the kitchen window.
.
Probably not allowed to park in the car park.0 -
