If Max Bygraves doesn't do it, try Plainchant! :D

    Oi, I like plainchant!

I was about to say that I probably wouldn't have liked it as a child, but actually I expect I would. It touches something deep inside of me.
OH likes it too, despite not being at all spiritually inclined.
DS, on the other hand, enjoyed visiting Buckfast Abbey when he was 17 but remarked that he wasn't keen on the music, which was a recording of plainchant. He likes all things modern and is a real city boy.

Interesting thread for some perhaps... Local council budget simulator and what to cut - libraries/museums/social/education etc.... vs tax rises.

Thanks Hamish but I'll pass - our council already tries to get the local populace to say which things should be cut next, so that they can say "Well, we're only doing what people asked for!" :(

DS is in an under 8 football team. I think at that age what matters is that they all enjoy playing and get to take part. The coach thinks winning is most important and that only the best players should get a match :(
    I think....

Michaels, why not do a take-over bid for the team?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Looking at both sides of the issue:

    - where are the stars of tomorrow to be encouraged if they're continually feeling they're being "held back" by those who are just there "for fun".
    - no point going if you have to be a winner or die.

What's needed is a 2nd coach to work with the "for fun" lot, alongside the "we wanna be stars" lot, so they can aspire to greatness if they wish, but just hang out and doss if they're not interested in greatness.

The two need to be "at the same time/place" so as to keep things on an even keel for scheduling/diary, and so they can see/mingle with the others.

So, needs another coach.... even a cr4p one will do, better than nothing and they are the "lot that can't really do it"

Michaels, your inverted snobbery is poorly disguised, as usual.

I would change to playing rugby where they learn respect each other and how to play as a team that includes everyone.

Failing that, I would change teams. And ask for your money back of this is a new change that you didn't sign up to. I doubt there are terms and conditions of the contract. Refund the appropriate amount for whatever has been used.

But I wouldn't stay just to spend the subs.

Why would I want to disguise it?

I used to play rugby for my school but it now has safety concerns.
