CGT tax avoidance (the legal one). Live in the property and then split off a new property next door.
Very probably. Simply buying in grown up kids name saves 18k on stamp duty plus as you say potentially big cgt savings down the line. You would need to be able to cash buy (and have a suitable front person) to acheive it though.
    I think....

    Are kids logical, though?

Two of mine were, too blooming logical for their own good (or my stress levels) :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

It's not a road. It's an area of parking where each house owns the freehold of a slice of it that includes their marked parking bay. It's tight/just for parking/turning.

I tried to get a photo from a past ad, but that didn't help explain it either.

Well, the obvious solution is for you and your neighbours to park your cars elsewhere. That'll give the kids a nice open place to play footie without risk of damaging anything. Plus, you explained that the area is not really suitable for parking, as it's too tight. So, two birds with one stone. Win-win.

Why do I have the feeling you are not going to like this solution?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

There is nowhere else to park + the spaces are owned (freehold) and allocated with painted numbers. The nearest place where you can legitimately park on the roadside is over 1/4 of a mile away.

It's NOT a playing place. It is tight, there are no visitor spots, so those houses with a 2nd car or a visitor park tight within their freehold areas but outside of their 'space', which is absolutely fine ... so long as you're not trying to reverse 180 degrees while avoiding 2-6 year olds and an assortment of abandoned toys. I had to chuck 4 bikes/skateboards into the rough the other night, abandoned toys.

So, either you walk 1/4 mile to your car, or the kids walk probably rather further for a place to play footie. Especially if they are 6 year olds, surely you should do the walking?

You are stuck with the bourgeois, capitalist idea that you own the land, whilst I am inviting you to think of a solution that maximises happiness.

.....and the lady soooo large I doubt she could cover more ground than the 40 feet from her parking space to her fridge/sofa) should find somewhere at least 1/4 of a mile away to park, possibly 3-4x a day,......

GDB's suggestion would do her the world of good!
    ....avoiding 2-6 year olds ....

Goodness, I didn't think they were that young! What happens when they turn into fully grown brats? Who lets 2 yr olds out to play unsupervised?

I have 2 grown up kids, more than happy for you to buy property in their name ;)

Lydia, have you switched your gas, electricity supply, and PV FIT contract all to Sainsbury's, or just gas / standard electricity?
    My daughter ...

    Thinking of you all.

News reporters....I've noticed that the BBC ones, at any rate, never wear a hat or have the hood up on their coat, no matter how inclement the weather! I can only assume there's someone out of shot, holding an umbrella for them....

Ivy, I'd noticed that too! My assumption is that the rain will make a noise on the hood or umbrella and get picked up on the microphone, but that could well be wrong. Jeremy Vine was looking really quite bedraggled on Crimewatch in some outside broadcast last night, and I couldn't quite see the point of him keeping popping outdoors to get wet, in the dark, when you couldn't see anything going on around him!

I am the twitter equivalent of rewired. I've had an account since early 2009 but have never sent a single tweet from it. I just use it to follow people/institutions that I'm interested in and like their output.

It's interesting how our digital / online usage changes over time. Years ago, I got news from the TV programmes. Then, for years, I used BBC Ceefax / Red button news.

The Red Button is still my primary news source, but twitter is increasingly up there - particularly for newspaper articles and online articles by commentators whose views or interests I enjoy.

I'll retweet stuff about gardening (offers, compost giveaways etc) but otherwise rarely tweet at all.

Have you managed to use the translation into Montenegran (or Serbian) yet? If so, was it well received or not?!
