    Started xmas present shopping :(

Flippin' 'eck - I thought it was bad enough when I went to the garden centre in Ambleside yesterday to see that the entire posh garden furniture section had been replaced with white trees, reindeer, michelin men in top hats, etc., etc. At least they didn't have piped music playing Slade, Chris de Burgh, etc.

Waaaaay too early IMO, even if it is only three months away.

I bought my first Christmas present over a month ago! In my defence, a shop selling some lovely stuff was changing its stock and selling stuff at silly prices, so I would have been silly not to take advantage of it especially as I had been admiring their stock for ages during window shopping.

It's a beautiful photo frame that will be perfect for my sister, original price was £15, I got it for a fiver. I also got some other bits and pieces at the same time, one of which is hanging on my wall in the hall and a couple of thank you gifts for my parents. I spent less than £20 that day and got items worth in excess of £70.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

@LydiaJ, sorry to hear about your aunt, a good age.

Personally I like the 'freedom' of having no relatives - or none that I know of.

Have fun Pyxis. Eek out those last summer days!

On the immensely silly virtual walking tour that I do on another forum, we did that coastline one year and it was jaw droppingly beautiful. For something so daft, I do quite a bit of research, handy if I ever get to disentangle myself from the desk.

    Enjoy yourself Pyxis!

It sounds rather high because of what they record as an incident. One involved the convoy setting off 3 hours later than originally planned, because there was some problem on the road up ahead. That just seems like good sense to me.

Another was "In January last year, the convoy travelled through the centre of Glasgow during a fierce storm". Doesn't it rain in Glasgow nearly all the time?

We change routes and delay moves for similar reasons, it's plain logic. We head up to the artic circle, if we had to record rain orsnow as an event, we'd have events coming out of our ears.

I know they are egregious because I am now listening to DS aged 7 practise recorder which he started learning this week....

    Life can be cruel sometimes.:rotfl:

    What's Christmas again?;)

Not doing well in dog world. One died in May, another one died at the start of the month and now a third has been given four months to live. If she's on the 'wrong' side of the average, I'm in danger of losing three in the same year. I'm turning into a bad dog mother.

My sympathies! Our DGD has just started learning the viola....I think it's better than a recorder though.

LydiaJ Just seen your post. So sorry you've lost someone precious :( My Nan died at 90 and it seemed quite astonishing that she wasn't there any more.

I had a text from my best friend earlier, to say she's about to go christmas shopping with her DIL. She is really excited :D I think it's a good idea to start early if there are lots of presents to find - spreads the cost, and means the thing you want is less likely to be sold out.
We need to buy a new little artificial tree this year. I have a note in my diary to do that at the beginning of November to make time to find the right one :)

So sorry to hear your news Lydia and Bugs, aww poor you.

Of my mum's siblings, 3 are still alive, 5 have sadly passed away. My dad's siblings, 1 has passed away, the other 4 are still alive although one is quite seriously ill now.

My mum and her sister are the only healthy ones on that side (although the sister successfully overcame breast cancer quite some years ago now), of the two brothers left, one has dementia (he is 90) and the other has had repeated bouts of cancer over the last couple of years and now also has vascular dementia. Mum is now the youngest surviving after my uncle and the baby of the family died last year.

On dad's side, dad and the brother who is ill are the not quite so good ones, the others are all in robust health...dad is the oldest.

It wasn't your fault though Pastures, you were just doing as your Dad suggested.

Along with the recorder. Your sins have certainly found you out.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
