Hello all.
Viva - we must have lived very close to one another back in the day if you were affected by Buncefield.
My DD always questions why the press in their helicopters seem to get to the scene of accidents etc before the emergency services do.
Agree with Pastures about location, also dependant on what else is happening on the news. DD had to evacuate her flat during some floods but there were no updates on even local news because Nelson Mandela died the same night.
Hope you're all having a great weekend. I am interspersing gardening (sunny but very windy) with playtime with the dogs.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've been cracking my imaginary whip this morning. I belong to a Facebook page which over night, the main admin got drunk and decided to post all manner of silly things on it.
I am a known member of that page and because of my standing in that community, I couldn't stand by and see all of us tarred with the same brush....so I spoke to the offending party and he has tidied everything up.
I'm now being called the headmistress by everyone :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

You're not looking right. You live in a populated area. Twitter is universal and it's acknowledged that social media picks up everything first. Our local paper just reports on stuff that's already appeared on the local facebook page. It's a joke.
You don't need a hashtag to search.
Even if it's a pretty sunset, you'll find so many people photographing it.
I typed in fire 'town name' the other day. Then tried rhe 'town name' in the general direction. That gave me the little village name. Another search on that, one with a hashtag, no space, and one with the proper name gave me loads. It's only a little village on the outskirts of a big town on the outskirts of a major city.
If you end up stopped on the motorway, quick search and you'll find people in the jam with you.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I just went to twitter and typed in my place name and got ... lots of strange/foreign sports !!!!!!.
I couldn't even describe/explain what it is.
Seems to be Springboks/football (South African it seems) and some strange election. There's also some bint in front of mountains and vast lakes saying how lovely the place is (no mountains/lakes here, I suspect she's in New Zealand).
I can't even work out what countries those things are from.
Ah, the election was 22nd September and in the UK.
So the stuff's old and not local, not relevant.
Something about some football game at Virginia Beach Sportsplex (is that the US?)
Last item using my placename in it is dated 16 September when a house was hit by lightning. That was the BBC radio post.0 -
I hate convertibles, they allow you to simultaneously:
- Get sun burn /sun stroke
- Be much too hot when you are stopped in traffic
- Get really sore ears caused by the cold wind all the time
- (Look a bit like you are desperate to recapture your lost youth)
My Smart Car I had when living in Bexhill on Sea was a Cabriolet and it had wide wheels too...looked very sporty for a car that fits in most peoples boots:rotfl:0 -

Hello all.

I will clear my inbox and PM you... how interesting!Doozergirl wrote: »Twitter beats everything these days. If you suspect something is happening, start searching and you'll quickly find the answer.
Fair point. Unfortunately Buncefield was before twitter was started, but you're right and it's certainly what I'd use now.
I am the twitter equivalent of rewired. I've had an account since early 2009 but have never sent a single tweet from it. I just use it to follow people/institutions that I'm interested in and like their output. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Big rain.
My son is sleeping (or not sleeping) in an inadequate tent some 45 mins away.
Phone is off but I have previous location on find my iphone. Don't know if I should do and find him. It's not going to stop anytime soon, looking at the satellite images.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If you're genuinely concerned, I'd go and find him from the previous location. Better safe than sorry.
No rain here yet, although there is some planned for later today.💙💛 💔0 -
Still awake, but it did calm down quickly and the satellite shows it passing an awful lot quicker than I thought. We're also to the east so it would have passed them earlier. Looks clear where he is and there's gaps in the cloud here.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
