For English copies of certificates, just apply through the General Records Office, it'll be about £10.

You can look them up online on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl easily enough, to get/check the specific record office/quarter, but there's no need.

If you're working with unusual names, just the surname and a range of years +/-5 would give you a short list to choose from .....

But, you don't need to look up the record/page reference to get the copy, just contact the GRO with what you know.

    Thanks so much, PN.

You know, you really ought to set up a website and offer your services commercially. Charge £50/hour say. Min 1 hour. Don't tell people where to get the information, but just offer to get it for them. Take a deposit up-front, on the basis it's refundable if you are unsuccessful.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Dunno about large, it looks extremely contented :rotfl:

We had a cat that looked just like that. We called it Gloves, on the basis that it would make a lovely pair of gloves. Actually, it wasn't large enough to make a pair, and who'd want to walk around with non-matching gloves?

So you know how to measure up a cat for a pair of gloves, do you? ;);)

Talking about non-matching gloves - why not?

I'd like non-matching shoes, but that would mean buying two pairs.

History graduates with a lot of experience probably charge from £25+/hour ... so to enter at double the 'qualified/experienced' rate would be the mark of a scammer :)

You have huge practical experience, so just charge the going rate. There's no need to under-cut because you don't have an irrelevant degree.

The alternative approach is to charge what you think you are worth. Then, you'll feel good about it and have a very satisfied client base.

Both ways beat watching daytime TV and moaning that you have no money.

Not that I am in any way judgemental! :)
