I have just noticed that Gen has been PPRd. This is not good timing considering the all for one, one for all nature of the NPT.

I don't know whether he will be able to see this, but we are all thinking of you Gen and hope to hear how you are getting on with your latest health issues. If you have any of our emails, please use them and we can post health updates for you.

I was once on the end of some abuse on a thread. It upset me a lot, even though it wasn't actually directed to me, personally, but to a post I had made, so I had a look at some of the other posts that person had made elsewhere.

It turned out that during the night before, they had been in considerable pain, had had a nasty health shock and had had very little sleep.

I stopped being upset, as I could understand that circumstances had made them lash out.

(They did later apologise for the abuse, which I was quite touched by).

There was a lot more to the situation than I even knew at that time, but have since found out, so am trying to be a bit supportive to them.

    Good plan Pyxis.

That's one of the problems with online posting. Against the substantial upside of getting to meet people from all over the world that you wouldn't otherwise be in contact with, you don't get the sense of any nuance, body language, picking up on the non-verbal stuff etc.

    That's right.
You don't get to see the brow crease in pain, or the desperately worried look, or any of the other cues that tell you there's more to something. There are only the bare words, which can often be taken the wrong way.
Emoticons can be very useful in that respect.

It's one reason why I like to use the subjunctive a lot, and the words "might", "may", "could", "perhaps", "possibly", etc. in the absence of being able to show, by body language and tone of voice, that I am not a "threat", IYSWIM.

    Health Update

I have two lumps in about the same place where Leon the Lump was. I've got a hematologist appointment Thursday next week. I'm extremely concerned. On a positive note I don't have any other symptoms of lymphoma but I am still officially bricking it.

Sorry to read that. All the best matey. If you need any help just shout - I will send a PM to a moderator for you (as I'm sure so many others would too!)
