    Posh Alert

I'm allergic to grouse. Seriously I am. If I have grouse for dinner at 8pm then I'll be up emptying my guts at 3am. I love grouse, it's one of my favourite meats. Blimmin' expensive though.

    Health Update

I have two lumps in about the same place where Leon the Lump was. I've got a hematologist appointment Thursday next week. I'm extremely concerned. On a positive note I don't have any other symptoms of lymphoma but I am still officially bricking it.

    Interesting Work Thing

Work is interesting right now. I'm writing a paper on cluster munitions and land mines: who profits from them and what's the supply chain (e.g. Textron makes the cluster munition using some parts made by General Dynamics and it's then fired out of a missile made by Raytheon). We want to try to convince our biggest client that we shouldn't invest in companies that have anything to do with cluster munitions.

Waiting and worrying is the worst thing. I hope that is a priority appt. and they genuinely can't see you any sooner because I'd be tempted to beat the door down if not!

I was offered Tuesday instead of Thursday but TBH I can't see two days making a difference.

Normally my hematologist only works a day a week seeing patients. The rest of the week is spent on diagnosis and research (I asked).

Sorry to hear it's your turn through the grinder again Gen.
    :(
I won't say all that "you'll be fine" stuff as that's probably not what you're secretly thinking inside and it hurts more, I think, when others are flippant/upbeat/'positive' about stuff as it makes you feel alienated and wrong about your own thoughts.

We'll all just have to give you those dodgy hugs.

Yesterday it rained.... then there was quite a wind/gale that blew up.

Today the weather says it'll be raining and very windy.

Thinking of you Gen. How long do the results come after the appt? Is it relatively quick or the "not knowing" is extended?

I really hope it goes well for you.

The appointment is with a hematologist. I expect to be told one of two things:

    1. Everything is fine beggur off
    2. Go get a test

If 1 then fine. There is no pressure on doctors to avoid giving cancer diagnoses here. I went previously with a 'lump' that I was told was scar tissue from radiotherapy and which doesn't change in size ever.

If 2 then I go for a biopsy on Friday or Saturday of next week. Then the tissue gets sent out for analysis which takes a small number of days. Then I am diagnosed with cancer or not-cancer.

If not-cancer then I probably have no more treatment. If cancer then It's back into the mill of operation and radiotherapy. Plus a bonus of chemo I would expect this time around. If the cancer comes back then it's usually worse than the previous time.

    <sarcastic mode>:j</sarcastic mode>

I hate cancer. I really, really hate cancer. Its's horrible having had it and it's horrible being scared that it's coming back. !!!!, !!!!, !!!!, !!!!ity !!!!.

The only words I can really think of Gen to empathise is "!!!!!!!". Well, I actually thought of stronger words but then I would probably be banned for posting them.

Ooops, seems it didn't like even the very mild swear word! Begger it (my alternative for the word it didn't like)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Thanks silvercar, me too. I am quite worried but I only have the one symptom. The night sweats I got last time around were very obvious and very terrible and dismissed as too much gin last time! I don't have that.

Let's see where we get to. I am mildly terrified but no worse than that. I think wine might help. I'm going to try at the very least.
