As our IT dept would say, try a reboot and if that doesn't help, log a ticket. :)

I think you're IT department might moonlight at my work while you're all asleep!

I am waiting whilst dd1 does her clarinet exam (DW is doing the school run). Looks like there is no risk of a drought this summer :(

Some day she will discover the saxophone and see the light :D

I solved this problem with a Heath Robinson mash-up!

My anti-starling method is also definitely Heath Robinson - but, hey, it works.

Just had one hopping all over it with no joy whatsoever, so it then stood on the windowsill and gave me some very disapproving looks before flapping off ;)

At the moment we are still at the stage where for my old ears the Clarinet is a huge step forward from the recorder <screech Screech>

Plus I suspect that whilst I have been horrified by the price of a clarinet a saxophone would make that look like a bargain.

Plus whilst when I was growing up a sax and guitar were cool apparently now they are 'boring'.....
    I think....

Ooooh! The treble and tenor recorders have a much nicer sound than the descant one! :)
The tenor one also has the same fingering as the descant, so no relearning necessary.

That is true, final year of the recorder she started on the treble and it was a lot less painful - not sure I would go much further than that though. IN September DS will start recorder and he is a typical not that tuneful but likes it loud boy - I am cringing even just contemplating it....

Edit - he is quite large for his age - I wonder if there is any reason he couldn't just start on the treble....

Just what I was going to suggest!

Mind you, I think the young learner violinist caps the young learner recorder-player for the cringing assault on the eardrums prize!

You would be talking about DD2 there...the only saving grace is just like with the piano she doesn't actually enjoy it enough to practice without major threats.
