    Yes!

    It's an Echium Pininana!

    I've got some!

They're spectacular, and bees love the flowers.

Will talk about them later, if you like, but I have to go now!

    !!!!!!, it only is!!!

Brilliant! Well done Nice People (nice person actually but you know what I mean).

Do they grow in the UK? If they grow in Sydney and the UK they'll defo grow in Canberra. I've watched this thing for years having absolutely no idea what was about to happen. What an utterly amazing plant.

Argh, now I'm confused. Being confused is almost as bad as queuing.

Agave attenuata or "fox tail agave" according to Google.
I was puzzled that none of the pics showed a big curved flower spike , then spotted that one!

It's amazing. Our neighbour has a plant that looks like a rather smaller version but I know hers has a totally different name which I can't remember atm.

There are, apparently, 199 species of Agave !!!

(I grow these in my garden. They are prolific self-seeders. They grow wild in the Channel Islands. They will grow in the UK provided they're protected from frost the first winter........they are biennials, quite ugly in the first year, then in the second year it throws up this massive flower spike. Some of mine got to 15ft! Then they die, leaving loads of little babies!)

Ps. That's not me, neither is that my garden! :rotfl:

although rare in Uk the pine marten is here in France but protected none the less....the last week we have heavy pitta patter that disturbs us around 5.30am like many little people with wellies on are arriving or leaving..guess now arriving if they are pine martens for the days sleeps which we wish we where still having....we have the barn that is adjoining the bedroom and so I guess they are invading quite easily...protected so have to respect that don't we.....earmuffs are an option as its not hot yet...
and hope they don't chew the electrics up there....
