Ideal, too much of the normal news is bad news :(

I don't know about that: England won the Test Match by an innings.:j

Still no sign of winter here and we're almost at the end of May!

Capx looks like a news aggregator to me. Looks like a good news aggregator though.

It's half and half apparently... it aggregates but it also commissions its own stories. Though the actual balance may not be 50/50 iykwim.

I get most of my news from aggregators these days. It's a good way of reading a balance of stories and being less subject to editorial bias, though that argument is a bit moot with CapX as they are deciding what goes in, as opposed to algorithm driven such as google news.

I wonder if the UK gets an El Nino effect. It's a very strong El Nino at the moment.

We do get El Nino here, but nowhere near as strong an effect as Australia or say California. The thing with the weather here at the moment is you could tell me that we are going to be in the 20s next week and that would be more surprising than if you told me we were going to have sleet.

ETA: just looked at the long range forecast on Accuweather. We are due to be in this temperature range for the next month. Just lots of mid teen bleurgh.

Yeah, I don't think England is on the short list of places to live after Aus. I'm thinking SW France ATM or maybe North Africa if they get their poo together. Stone me, 19C and raining in London today. 23C and sunny today with a forecast of 24C and sunny tomorrow here.

Looking at the updated pension rules I suspect that I'll have to do another year's work or something in the UK in 20 years to update my pension payments from the UK Government to cancel out 20 years inflation. However, the way things are going ATM I think I might be better off getting 20 years of uplift from deflation!

The thing is though, that so many people equate 'good' weather with really hot weather.

We have had an awful lot of sunshine already this year, and on many days, it was really warm in the sun, (albeit cool in the shade). To my mind, we have already had a lot of very good weather!

(The wind direction can either make a sunny day really warm or quite cool, and that wind direction can change from day to day.)

Yes, there's been rain too, but I really cannot accept that our weather has been awful just because we haven't had a heat wave!

The perfect weather for me usually occurs between April and June, namely, sunny, warm in the sun with a coolish breeze. Then some rainy days, to stop the plants drying out, and to save having to start watering stuff too early.
Personally I don't like heatwaves, mainly because in this country they are usually accompanied by humid weather, which I hate.

(Ok, I concede that a lot depends on where in the country one lives!)

Yeah, warm and dry is my favourite: 25-30C with low humidity.

It looks like we're going to be moving to Canberra which will deal with most of the humidity problem as it's inland.

That's exciting Gen - won't you (i.e. your family) miss the Harbour and the beaches though?

I worry too much - I would feel much more comfortable if the weather round the world was more normal, I am not convinced with such a complex system that we can expect climate change to be linear.

I think we have had a very unusually hot May - I think earlier in the month it was 27 degrees in Scotland, I suspect most years Scotland never sees 27 degrees. I haven't checked recently but I wouldn't b surprised if we were 2 degrees above average which in meteorological terms is f**ing loads.
    I think....
