Sorry to hear you need surgery Loanranger. Hope it is all in hand and you have a date soon.

I have to plan ahead too, have had some close shaves! :o I don't know enough about Crohne's disease, but I think that when you need to go you need to go. Certainly IBS when you need to go you need to go. To me it's more a matter of dignity - just because a few folks mis-use facilities why should the majority of decent folks be denied access?

Off to hairdresser tomorrow - OH and I need our summer cuts after getting rather shaggy over the winter. ;) After over 20 years of going to the same hairdresser, from when our kids were still in primary school (both are mothers now!) I know that I can use the staff facilities should I need them. But it's still somehow a bit embarrassing to ask. Even though my lovely hairdresser knows my med history etc. She should charge psychotherapist fees - she is a very skillful one after all! :) :rotfl: Oh, she does a good hair cut too! :)

I have just seen a news item on News at 10, about combining public budgets to improve services in Greater Manchester, One of the videos pictured two young children on bikes. A woman was walking down the street, wearing pyjamas a cardigan and flip flops.

Has any NP worn pyjamas out walking in public?

In the past I have shuffled our cars around on the drive whilst wearing my dressing gown.

Would a solution be to signpost to nearest public loos.

It is expensive giving free access to toilets in places where there is a high risk of them being abused. When the decent majority need access there is a higher likliehood that the facilities will be unsanitary.

If a loo could be available, A radar system could be used by those with health conditions (it is a key system giving access to Disabled loos)

Never worn jimjams outdoors, nor my nightie!
Nor flip flops either, can't bear the feel of that piece of plastic between my toes but that really puts me in a minority.
I have just discovered a fabulous radio station ...magic.co.uk channel 715 on freeview. If you like mellow sounds from the 80s ish then give it a whirl online or on tv.
That bladder surgery is not happening, I cannot face it.

Think the bit between the toes thing must be heriditary; me, mum and sister love the feel of flip flops.

I may have been known to get out of bed, brush teeth, wash face, put jeans and hoody over pjs, drop kids off somewhere and go back to bed...

Kids always want dw and i to retune from magic or smooth to capital or kiss...although to be fair the former have rather limited play lists and get very repetitive.
    I think....

In my town the job centre is next door to large supermarket open all hours with accessible loos. It would be a waste of money to install loos in the job centre. I have a bladder problem, requires surgery, but i am never caught short as I plan ahead.
Last night was at the theatre so used the loo in restaurant beforehand and again during the first interval.
I cannot imagine how difficult it must be if you literally have to go immediately but is that the case with IBS or Crohns?

I have a bladder and kidney problem which means I need to use the loo for a wee approx every hour, if I get nervous or anxious, it gets worse!

It's a running joke amongst my family when we go on days out, despite going to the loo literally just before we leave the house, you can guarantee I will start needing the loo as we get on the A12 towards London and by the time we get to the M25 (1 hour from here), I am at desperate levels and about to wee myself.

N.B If I try to hold it because a toilet is not available, I get infections so it is not only an urge thing but it can also make me very ill to not listen to my bladder.

Josh has damage to the nerves leading to his bladder and bowel, he gets little to no warning that he needs to go and he is completely unable to hold it when the urge takes hold.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Absolutely no, I would be mortified to be seen out doing shopping/school run etc in my nightclothes.

I have been known to throw a pair of jeans and a jacket over my nightshirt to rush a bin out to the bin men though but then I just looked like I was wearing day clothes.

Re airports, never travelled from Heathrow or Gatwick (although did a pick up from Gatwick back in the days when I could actually drive a distance), so can't speak about them.

Stansted, nice little airport which suits me but the car parks seem miles away and at silly o clock in the morning the time spent on the little bus is a real drag. Big bonus for me is it can be reached in under an hour from here if the traffic is not too bad.

Luton, only flown from there once but from what I remember, it was more basic than Stansted was at the time with very uncomfortable seats and nowhere to get a cup of tea at 3 in the morning.

That said, I haven't flown since 2006 so lots has probably changed in that time!
