I've just been in Inner Herts (travelled from Stansted to north London). Can't say what Stansted's selling point as an airport is. The UK arrivals is about the size of a broom cupboard with about the same facilities.

There seems to be no easy way of dropping anybody off without forking out dosh, everything is miles apart and yet toilets are hard to find.

Having aid that, as you drive along the M11 towards London you actually see its skyline below you which is quite a sight.

It saves people who don't live in London the pain of driving into London to get to an airport. If it were me I'd stick them all on the outside - then put a big trainline round the whole lot.

Most people using airports have no need/desire to go to London whatsoever, but that's where the planes land. It'd free up a lot of congestion if things were thought out differently.

They did do that. Heathrow is right next to the M25. Luton is only a little bit north of it, Gatwick a bit south and Stansted a bit north-east.

Only London City could be described as in London.

    That's a Londoner's view :)

"Once you get to the M25 you're in London" to the rest of us :)

And, most flights are Heathrow/Gatwick .... so they're in London

That's a really nice small relaxing airport. Heathrow's only nice to arrive in, but too hectic for taking off from.

Gatwick's about as convenient to get to for us and not too bad to fly from. We din't expect airports to have character but they should try to offer facilities. Presumably the airside of Stansted has all the good stuff. The groundside hasn't much going for it.

Gatwick is 8 miles outside the M25.

In my town the job centre is next door to large supermarket open all hours with accessible loos. It would be a waste of money to install loos in the job centre. I have a bladder problem, requires surgery, but i am never caught short as I plan ahead.
Last night was at the theatre so used the loo in restaurant beforehand and again during the first interval.
I cannot imagine how difficult it must be if you literally have to go immediately but is that the case with IBS or Crohns?

It would'nt surprise me if Gatwick was found to be closer to France than to Piccadilly Circus!

We always struggled with flying and in over 20 years of having a holiday home near Alicante we managed flying twice..god it makes your arms ache...guess thats why we ended up in France..ours here would be nearest Poiters or Limoges (not been there yet) simple to pick up people from Poiters with 20mins free parking.. also.every village has a Marie Office and every Marie location has a toilet..everywhere there are toilets here when you know where to look of course...clean also mostly...regards Dianne
