I know what you meant, thankyou. :o. I unravelled my tights because I took them off just before discovering it had gone :rotfl:

My diamond's gone from my engagement ring :(

I just got undressed and the now empty claw caught on my clothes. I've checked around the floor here but I think it must have gone earlier as I don't think the clothing would have caught when the diamond was knocked out.

Is it insured in house contents, do you think? I've read the policy, it isn't valuable enough to be a separate item.

I don't know what category a bit of it going missing would come under?! It's not exactly wear and tear, nor does it seem to be an accidental thing. And I don't know if it's in the house or outside, I've been in and out and all sorts of places this afternoon/evening.

I can't even see now how it would have gotten out.

Hope you find it. Insurer should cover under 'loss'.

My engagement ring had claws that used to catch on clothing. In the end I had the setting changed to a bezelled setting.

My DD used to do baby-sitting, and I was surprised how lucrative it was. £5-6 an hour for say a 4-hour session, during which she'd do her home-work or watch TV.

Looking back to when I used to do baby-sitting as a young teenager, I know now that I would have been useless in an emergency.

I had no experience of young children at all, let alone babies.

I remember once, where there was a baby, and the mum asked me if I knew how to change a nappy. Well, I thought I did, so said yes.
She showed me where everything was.

I thought that meant I had to change it, so after a suitable interval, I thought I better had. It took me ages, lots of fumbling, God knows what the baby thought.
Anyway, when they got back, there was a puzzled look on the mum's face.
This was because the nappy I had removed was bone dry.

    Well, I didn't know, did I?

I would never have left any child of mine with me at that age! :rotfl:

Still, they all seem to have survived!

When my colleagues and I used to babysit in BAOR, before I was married, the parents used to pay babysitters with a jar of coffee because coffee was rationed at the NAAFI and single people didn't get any

Maggie That's really rotten. i'm so sorry :( Definitely ask for the decision to be set aside.

Doozergirl I hope you find your diamond, but if not, fingers x'd your insurance will pay for a new one.

Insurance won't cover it. So that's fun.

Looked at the petrol station, not there.

Is it too early for wine? I really would, but have to drive later.

Doozer has offered to sell his wedding ring (never worn) to pay for a new diamond. I will have the setting you highlighted, silvercar, thank you. I have another diamond in a necklace that he bought me when DD was born. I don't really want to use that one. He's back at the weekend.

In the meantime, I will look. But where do I look apart from everywhere?:(

Have you been back to MacDonald's?

Turned your coat inside out in case it got trapped inside?

In the meantime, it might be worth sifting through the contents of your hoover bags for a couple of weeks, just in case.

Might be worth checking the traps of your wash basin in case it came off when you washed your hands.

Also, heck your handbag, other bag, as it may have dropped, out when you were grovelling around in them.

Were you wearing gloves? Might be in the glove.
    Pockets?

Did you use a loo anywhere? Might be in the cubicle.

If you got undressed in the bedroom, it may have landed on the bed.

Easiest way is to hoover a lot and, as said before, sift through the dust contents.

Thanks for helping. I need someone to help me check traps and checking the hoover for a while is a good plan. Didn't use a cubicle, have checked the bed and room thoroughly. We have hard floors so it's very easy to see, but I guess it could skid easily too. Have checked in skirting gaps!

I think MacDonalds is a potential culprit but I cannot imagine it would be there now. I was wiping hands and took my coat off. There was a woman sweeping up at the time and I can imagine the floor gets a good clean at some point overnight.

I'm so confused. I put the ring on this morning to see if it catches on my clothes easily and it does. Putting my hands in dress pockets scratches, taking my tights off would have caught but briefly. Perhaps I wouldn't have noticed, but I'm not entirely convinced that I wouldn't. I hate tights getting caught. Doozer can touch my leg with his builders hands and I'll tell him off! Putting them on would have been a very clear sign of a major issue, so going to the loo would have been an issue. I remember going at 7pm, may well have gone again after, so perhaps it is nearby.

Typing is helping the thought process. Sorry for being yawn-inducing!

I'd quite like to stop bursting into tears.

DW lost a diamond from her engagement ring. We asked around, and we got the name of a very nice man who replaced it (around £200, but it wasn't a very big diamond). Do you want the details?
