They are pronounced with a zh sound, as in the French 'je'.
G is pronounced zhay and J is pronounced zhee, so the opposite vowel sounds to those in English.
I had to look it up to remind myself!
Yes, in German, j is pronounced as in yacht when spoken. I can't remember how the letter j is pronounced.
I'll have to look that up now!
G is pronounced like gay. I still have my German vocab notebook from school, and the first thing in it is "McLeod's Patent Phonetic German Alphabet" (as taught to us by Mr McLeod).
Ah, bay, tsay, day, ay, eff, gay, hah, ee, yot, kah, ell, emm, enn, oh! (sic), pay, coo, err, ess, tay, oo, fow, vay, eeks, oopsilon, tset.
I think that's right anyway. I really enjoyed learning German.0 -

Do you know, even though I did German to 'A'-level, I don't remember ever learning the alphabet!
I can't have, because I'm sure I'd have remembered yot.
Yet we were taught the French one. Strange.
ETA Why is this page so wiiiiide?
I don't know why a link would do it, but I have noticed that it does seem to occasionally.
It's usually a large pic, though.(I just lurve spiders!)

I'm going to bore you some more with the saga of the printer ink price hike!
Having been unable to email Sainsbury's about it last week, (the email wouldn't go), I sent a test email this morning, (via their 'contact us' link).
That worked.
So I wrote another one, relating my gripe about the price hike. Tried to send it and it wouldn't go.
It said something about the 'comment format being invalid'.
So I sent yet another one telling them that I couldn't send one, and that went ok!
I can only assume that my 'complaint' email was too long. It didn't say that, though, only that it was invalid.
I have no idea what length would be acceptable. It wasn't all that long, and I had to explain what had happened, after all!
More annoyance.
I'm really going off Sainsbury's.
I went to Waitrose this morning, and got 18 of my favourite loo rolls on special offer that worked out the same price as Sainsbury's 16-pack. Hahahahahaha! Thumb to nose to Sainsbury's! :rotfl:
And I got a free coffee!
(It's the little victories in life, you know!)

I can't recall ever learning an alphabet either. Maybe they realised that the likes of you and I are above all that ... and they just cracked on with the harder stuffI think....0 -
I'm in the old green format and it wraps - apologies if it doesn't for everyone.
I'm on green too, but it was stretched for me. Weirderoonie!(I just lurve spiders!)

What's 'wrap'?
Automatically splits up sentences or bends a long word or web address round onto the next line
When we type here we don't put in the new line commands, we just type and it wraps by default.... on michaels' screen, when he types in a web address 3 yards long it wraps and he'll see it spanning several lines... we just get the super wide page instead as ours isn't wrapping.0 -
Michaels' post was the first on this page, and the whole page was wiiiide. Now his post is no longer the first (someone deleted a post?) and the page has returned to normal. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
