Just reporting in so you know I didn't slide off silently in the night :)

Finger doesn't hurt this morning, but there is a "hidden swelling" that's the sort that you don't notice until you suddenly knock the finger on something, then it hurts a bit.

If I didn't live alone I'd probably milk it for the weekend to be honest :)

    In short: I'll live.

    :)

Now it's lighter, I can see I have bruising under my nail. :(

Wish I had somebody here so I could milk it ..... *sighs*
No sympathy when you live alone and there's nobody to whine to.

I know what you mean. I've picked up a cold from somewhere - just a cold but, if there was someone else here it could develop into serious man-flu :rotfl:

There, there Pastures........you take the day off, we'll do everything.
Go and lie down on the chaise longue and we'll peel you some grapes.

Seriously, though, I'm not surprised you came over all queer. The finger is one of the densest areas of nerve endings in the body, so feels pain out of proportion to the extent of the injury, IYSWIM.

I remember when I whacked my thumb with a hammer instead of the nail I was trying to hammer in; I nearly passed out with the pain, too, and was very wobbly for a while.

You did all the right things, though, putting something cold on it, lying down when you felt faint. A lot of injuries are caused by people ignoring the faint feelings out of embarrassment and then banging their heads when they finally fall.

How did you do it? Did the oven fall on your finger?

Evening all. LTNS . Blimey I don't recognise any names here, only PN :p.

And where the heck is rewired?

    Hi Sue !

    Long time, no see!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Non contact, no touchy, un dodgy hugs to PN.

Sounds like the pain was so great that your body went into shock.

At least you know that you do all the right things rather than just panic.

Yes, it's a "lightweight" toaster oven, with a foot at each corner. I was carrying it from where I use it, to where I store it (on top of the bread bin).

When I thought it was in the right place and I "let go" thinking it'd just drop 3mm and sit on top of the bread bin, unfortunately the two left legs weren't above the bread bin, so the whole thing dropped onto my finger.

    :(

The placement is a bit critical there - and precarious really - but in a small kitchen you have to move things around whenever you want to do something.

Now you have your drill, you could put up a shelf or brackets to keep the oven in a convenient place permanently. (Or, if you are unsure about your skills, the new shelf could be a place for the bread bin!)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    What make is it?

I'd never heard of toaster ovens, only mini-ovens with grills.

I really bemoan my lack of a decent 'grill'. My oven has one which is abominable, the microwave has one that is useless.

I have a toaster, and I can make toasted sandwiches in it with Toastabags, but it would be good to have a grill to do other things under.

I really, really miss the old eye-level grill that was on my old gas oven many years ago.
