Amex gold card you get some sort of lounge access scheme thang for a year, no fee for first year, loads of cashback in first three months and extra if you asked me to refer you.

T2 and T4 only by the looks of it. And I don't think i could/ should spend £2k on a card in 3 months either! Thanks though

The BA lounge in T5 is lovely. I think I read a while back that a new pay lounge was being built at Heathrow. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? They don't want you sitting there, unfolding your very-MSE foil package containing your Aldi jam sandwiches, dropping crumbs everywhere.
Not very MSE to take sandwiches to a lounge. To be MSE you'd take Tupperware and an empty hip flask!0 -

I'd never heard of a lounge before these NP threads. I'm not a traveller, so not familiar with even airports, never mind posh things like lounges
The lounges I've been in have free tea, coffee, branded soft drinks, wine, beer, basic spirits with a mixer (G 'n' T, vodka and tonic), pastries, cheese 'n' biccies, fruit and crisp-type snacks.
They have power points and wifi so you can charge stuff and some have gimmicks like massages (no 'extras' though even if you tip although I understand you can get that at the barbers in Bangkok airport).
They're nicer to hang out in than the regular airport as long as you don't mind sitting in a room with people that use phrases like 'touch base' when they mean 'meet'.0 -
Yes, all well.
Was a bit difficult getting through to some of family and friends yesterday as several were commuting and mobile networks were stretched, but all accounted for.
Good to hear Wheezy.
I once sat in the posh lounge at Guernsey - it's a small airport and basically it was nicer chairs than the standard plastic seating arrangement.0 -
Hope you have a lovely trip! You might know, is there a way of buying lounge access? Esp T5? Would be a nice birthday/ start of holiday treat for my mum...The lounges I've been in have free tea, coffee, branded soft drinks, wine, beer, basic spirits with a mixer (G 'n' T, vodka and tonic), pastries, cheese 'n' biccies, fruit and crisp-type snacks.

Lounges vary in quality and provision. British Airways has 5 lounges. At terminal 5 Heathrow plus smaller lounges at a couple of the other terminals. The best one is for those flying first class only and they will cook you food to order. I've only been in there once.
Generally flying in business or first or being a member with status in their frequent flyer programme gets you access.
There are other lounges that you can buy access through companies like airport angels and priority pass. One of them has just opened at Terminal 5, called the Aspire lounge. You can buy passes beforehand and work out cheaper than turning up and hoping there is room. Always worth checking your bank account as some offer lounge access.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Ah yes, forgot to say that I am also very glad that Wheezy is well. I suspected that if a penguin had been killed it woulda made the news.0

Only time I have ever been in a lounge the ambience was ruined because there were three annoying brats getting high on the free sodas and generally running around making noise and disturbing everyone. I joined in whole heartedly with all the other travellers: the sighing, tutting and holding the newspaper up higher - especially when the DKs tried to talk to me....I think....0
