I shouldn't speak for Michaels, but I think he has one or two bank accounts that he doesn't use for anything else except account switching to get the cash incentives. This limits his pain if anything goes wrong.
We used to have 'Village name 791' as our phone number.
Day off today, first day of working 70% this tax year, working the other 30% would only add 5k to my total renumeration (pay plus pension). Have slept most of the morning as still have cough/chest infection from hay fever.I think....0 -
Well, I don't usually moan about price increases, but this one made my jaw drop earlier today.
I was running low on black ink for my printer, so while in Sainsbury's decided to get some. At the same time, I thought I'd get another multipack, too.
The multipacks have been £50- 55 for some time; the last one I got was c. £55, and not a million months ago, as I get through ink quite quickly.
I reached for the multipack, and said jaw dropped. The price was £70!
So I put it back. I'll have to think about that.
I couldn't believe it had gone up so much!
The black on its own was £20, but I had to have that.
Why such a big increase, on a product that's a rip-off anyway?
Is this the start of a general hike in prices from now on?(I just lurve spiders!)

There's bound to be some increases, given the Boris devaluation.
Can I ask which printer you have?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

It's an Epson Workforce can'trememberthemodelnumberoffhand MFC.

I know Epson have pricey inks, but it was the best wifi model for my iPad at the time, three years ago, and does double-sided copying an' all!
When I had an iMac, I had a Brother MFC printer, and the scanner wasn't compatible.......it was a right pain, so I knew Epson were Apple friendly, hence this one.(I just lurve spiders!)

Ink is too much.
I know, and as a I said, I'm sure we're all being done. To start with, the impenetrable packaging can't be necessary, surely?
Trouble is, I do need to print out a lot of stuff.
In my defence, I do also have an old MFC......said Brother, which I use for photocopying, as I still have a whole boxful of inks for it.
Can't use those inks in the Epson, though.
In the past, I used to be able to carry on printing even when one ink had run out. It just meant you got stuff printed in a funny colour.
Now , you can't print anything at all until you replace the one cartridge that has run out, even if the others are ok. Which means I've got loads of yellow cartridges, as the cyan, magenta and black all go more quickly.(I just lurve spiders!)

Nice printer. Compatible ink is available <£10. For example:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MRL6LAF/
Even if these eventually kill the printer, you'll hopefully have saved enough on the ink to buy another out of the savings.
I use very old b/w laser printers, and original HP toner cartridges cost very little on ebay. £10 for several thousand pages.
I was using a laserjet 2200, which was quite fast at 20 ppm. Unfortunately, that stopped working, so I binned it and am now using a 2100, which is noticeably slower. It's 15 years old, but its page count is only equivalent to 4 months usage at its maximum monthly duty cycle. So, it's like having a 15 year old car with 3000 miles on the clock. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I gave up on Epsons after being frustrated with blocked printer heads and uneven printing.
I've now got the HP Envy 4520 which comes with HP ink delivery. I pay £1.99 a month and HP send new cartridges when the existing ones run out.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Having said that, before I had to go wifi with the iPad, it was getting harder and harder and harder to find inks compatible with the Brother, because it was getting 'old'. I'd already had to dump one perfectly useable MFC because I could no longer get inks for it, and I guess that when the Brother inks run out or denature, whichever happens first, I'll have to dump another perfectly useable machine due to lack of inks.
It's so annoying.
Putting duff inks in a good machine feels a bit like putting cheap Tesco fuel in my car.
(I had a very bad experience with cheap Tesco fuel in my previous car about 20 years ago. It juggered the engine.I haven't touched the stuff since.)
