I got the call yesterday - just told the bloke that I don't pay for news, there's plenty of free news out there

I got the call yesterday, recognised the number and after the bloke confirmed who I was, I politely said 'Yes, I did enter a competition to win an ipad, no I don't want a subscription. Please don't call me again.
He asked how I knew who was calling and why and I said 'I'm psychic'. He giggled, said 'fair play' and hung up0 -
I ve just had phone call from them . Lady was very friendly. She mentioned ipad competition . I said , that I am buying my newspapers in my corner shop and I am happy with that.
I haven't had this call, maybe because I do subscribe! FYI it involves paying by monthly direct debit at a much reduced daily cost, you are sent vouchers which you exchange at any shop or garage so they still get paid. Worth doing if you buy the same paper EVERY day anyway - it's Moneysaving! :money:I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. I hope the next person that they ring asks them why have they still not notified the winners when the competition closed over a month ago!0 -
I just had a call too. they asked if I read the Times, I said no. So he asked how I found out about the competition, I said from a competitions web site - he was a bit stumped there lol. Quick end to the phone call and won't hold my breath to win.
On a plus I did win a tablet from them a few years ago.0 -
Called my mobile yesterday but was in a meeting so didn't answer. Have now blocked as was constantly pestered the last time (despite saying I wasn't interested).0

I had a call today so told him i wasn't interested in a subscription before he even asked me so he quickly said goodbye.
I also had a call from practical photography about a subscription but he was a bit more persistant asking all sorts of questions until he asked do i never read anything so i told him no because i can't read as i am illiterate so he finally got the message laughed and said goodbye.
I do find it fun sometimes to string them along a bit especially if they won't take no for an answer.0 -
Eventually gave in and answered, and said I only read the paper very occasionally and he didn't try to sell me anything. He said winners have now been emailed and I should keep entering competions because he promises I will win sometime! He must be able to see the future!0

I've missed 6 calls to my mobile over the last 3 days from this number. If they reeeeally want to speak so desperately, they should leave a message!
I actually read the paper version of the Times on occasion, but like everyone else I'm quite capable, without prompting, of choosing when and if, I decide to subscribe to an online version  I'm never rude to a salesperson, they are doing a job which can often be thankless, however I do get miffed at calls when I've not given consent to receive marketing or when my number has clearly been passed around a bunch of other agencies.

I actually made a complaint to The Times about these sales calls.
I used the email given on their site: support@thetimesoffers.co.uk
In my email I also asked to see a winners list for that Ipad competition.
I did not even get an acknowledgement.
Over years of comping I know many companies see competition entrants as absolute mugs - just there for adding to mailing lists.
I now include The Times as one of these unscrupulous companies.0
