They just phoned on my partners phone - I saw the number then answered

Sorry, I do not wish to take out a Times subscription

The bloke says.... Er, right - but how did you know what I was phoning for?

This one? (They don't always offer opt-out)

Yes. I reckon it was that one.

Now the chap on the end of the phone told me they were still in the process of picking the winners.

This leads me to think he was telling lies just to keep me interested as the blurb for that competition contains this.

One entry per person, per hour.
Winners will be selected at random from all correct entries
    on January 18, 2016.
The winners will be notified within seven days.
And I know I the past that The Times does usually notify winners fairly promptly

The more I receive these 'Sales Calls' it just make me more distrusting of anybody who I don't know speaking to me by phone.
  • Have had a missed call from this number too
  • They phoned me 5 times (which I ignored) but I answered on the 6th time just to stop them ringing. They said the iPad blurb and then asked where I saw the comp. I answered the times. They asked how often i read it to which I replied 'occasionally' and then they wished me a good day and that was it! Never even bothered to sell me the subscription. It was very strange.
You've got to be in it to WIN IT

This is very strange - I got a similar call but was only told to check my emails as the winner will be announced and was asked how my subscription was - no sales pitch or anything and the person who called me was so upbeat I've been continuously checking my emails to see if I've won :rotfl:

Not just me thankfully, they called numerous times when I did not answer in the end my husband answered and told them I wasn't interested in subscriptions, so annoying

I had a call the chap was very friendly and said he would remove me from their call list. I always make sure I opt out and mentioned this to him.
