I used the email given on their site: support@thetimesoffers.co.uk
In my email I also asked to see a winners list for that Ipad competition.
I did not even get an acknowledgement.
Over years of comping I know many companies see competition entrants as absolute mugs - just there for adding to mailing lists.
I now include The Times as one of these unscrupulous companies.
If you had sent a stamped envelope to Times Newspapers Limited Competitions Department as per terms, you would have received winner’s details.0 -

I stopped doing that long ago as so many of the companies fail to adhere to their own conditions and just keep your stamped envelope.
It is a waste of time and money.0 -

If you don't follow the correct procedure you shouldn't be surprised at the result.0 -

No I'm not surprised about not getting the winners' list. ( I rarely got them in the past whichever way I applied for them). But I am surprised at not receiving an acknowlegement to the complaint I made about the sales calls.
I think it is just NOT acceptable to receive a telephone call from someone trying to sell you something merely because you entered a competition.0 -

With some competitions the opt out is not to enter and by entering you are giving your consent to receive marketing etc.0 -
Companies run these competitions to drum up business, as we all know.
I am fairly sure there was no opt-out for the 16/01 comp., so as mjm3346 rightly says the choice was to enter and receive these sales calls or not enter at all.
These Times comps are few and far between now; the fact that the opt-out was missing indicates to me that they were not selling many subscriptions for the number of entries. Compers putting in indignant complaints about getting the calls is NOT going to encourage them to run the comps in future (although I suspect they won't be anyway)
Having said all that, the Times have been a bit naughty in suggesting the competition was still going on, when we all knew it was done and dusted (unless someone has since got a WEM?).
I did also nearly get caught out and answer the call myself because I do actually know people in Tarporley:rotfl: so was a bit spooked by that."If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you. "

Six days on the trot for me, including Saturday, and I've been out each time. Wonder if they'll try today, or do even they have a day off?'...luck came to those who left a space for it.' Terry Pratchett0

The auto-dial system doesn't need a break and whoever employs the staff probably has them on shifts which include weekends and/or evenings at their basic rate.0 -

You would think they would leave a message rather than leave you wondering who it was - but that would obviously be to their detriment
The first time I received the call I was at home but asleep as I work variable hours. By the time I got up to answer the phone they had rung off.
In my haste I rang the number back - luckily I didn't get through otherwise it would have cost a bit me ringing Tarporley!
They got me on the third call.0
