Funding for prison visits problem.

The point being rehabilitation rather than pure punishment, and for your information all their luxuries come out of their own pocket, in the sense its like pocket money and they do long hours for £10 a week and everything is bought at RRP so one dvd would cost them about £15
The point is is someone was a good person before and does one bad thing though that could be a extreme bad thing would you lump them in with someone who is a bad person everyday of their life just because they did that one thing? At what point do you go to extremes.
So you compared a tiny portable tv and a 16 year old games console to a 4K tv and current games console?
Right that idea works.
Yes because rehabilitation always works and no one ever does a bad thing ever again.
How does watching DVDs and playing games rehabilitate them? Much more worthwhile things they can be doing eg education that would help in their rehabilition. Playing FIFA or whatever game doesn't do that.
Do you honestly think I would have sympathy that they have a low wage? They are in prison for a reason. They committed a crime. Why should they get paid for it in order to buy these luxuries?0 -
Stop trying to twist things to your own sick frame of mind - please don't get abusive or offensive. That's against the rules. as you are going to extremes, wow some people cant afford as little as 10p - you said £15, not 10p for a second hand dvd, I never justified any actions even as a one off but theres a different between someone who is violent or nasty all the time and someone who snaps as everyone has done something bad in their life. - I'll explain. Anyone who snaps and does something which deserves prison, should be treated like any other criminal, in my opinion.
You seem to think a naive ignroant mentality that all criminals fit one mould i.e violent and never deserve any help. - Not ignorant. I've already explained I have a well thought out and logical argument that explains the British prison system fails on multiple levels and is not fit for purpose.
My relative is spending their time teaching foreigners English, call centre work for people who have issues like depression, does extra volunteer work over their quota and wins multiple awards in prison for their work. - Brilliant.
You don't know what they did if they even did it(in the eyes of the law they did therefore as far as the world is concerned they are guilty) - In the eyes of their friends, and of even you they did it. I have seen this once popular confident person turn into a nervous wreck and put on suicide watch, treated like scum of the earth. - As explained, he snapped, clearly did something worthy of going to prison. What does he, or you, expect. There is plenty of opportunity to turn it around.
This person before they were arrested did charity work abroad, worked with local kids, did a lot of fundraising and won awards there too.
Great.
You know what that says to me?
That a judge faced with ALL this mitigating evidence, and good character etc etc. With a limited criminal background - still decided on a custodial sentence.
The crime must've been VERY BAD for that to happen.0 -
No he had a few visits before he in prison before they found excuses.
And he lives south of the border.
Ok i can guess the specialist prison south of the border then.
Alleged as in he could be innocent but the law decides he is guilty so thats what matters.
Not even remotely alleged then.
Even at the time everyone was saying he wont go to jail and even wondered why it made it to court in the first place due to lack of evidencee but it was all twisted to extremes.
talk about denial, and justification, not surprised he went to jail with no remorse shown whatsoever0 -
Only about 200 prison visits a day are covered by travelling expenses for those that can't afford to visit. It costs about £50,000 per week. You might be eligible if you claim:-
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Employment and Support Allowance
Universal Credit
Tax credits
Pension CreditThese are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
Judging is not against the rules? I'm expressing my opinion on a topical issue which has raised a number of interesting points.
You might not 'like' what I've said, but that's unfortunate.
I've not been abusive or offensive. or anything else.
Hence why it should't of happened, the social worker was fresh out of university and had many complaints against them so much so she moved to another area of the UK due to the death threats she was given!
Just because you don't believe something doesn't mean its not true, since you are the once challenging what I say you have to prove it wrong.
Hes 38 next month by the way, and also fyi by me saying it was a moment of madness is me saying "if" he did it not saying he "did" also for your information the local police force was doing badly in convictions at the time, one of the higher ups even said they would make an example of him, also when they asked families for statements they twisted them so much so the family complained and the policemen responsible got in trouble.
Theres a big sticky at top of page that says.
Its about helping people get their entitlement! Not about benefits policy!0 -

You are looking at it in your wrong biased way, you don't need to have sympathy for them not having dvds but dont treat them like they have all the latest gadgets and have it easy, and did you ignore the fact I said he was doing other things in his time? They use things like tvs in the period they are locked up and can't leave their room not a all day thing.
And to flip your argument around are you saying letting people rot and stew is better than little rewards for good behaviour that mean they realise how good it is to not do bad things?0 -

I leave judgement to the courts, who seem to have made one and stuck by it.
Not so 'evil' that i have ever been to prison0 -

Doesn't mean you aren't a bad person though because as stated before theres bad people who are not in prison.
Its taking the moral high ground.0 -

I thought he was stitched up by just about everyone in authority, and not 'done bad things'?0
