Hi all!
As someone with credit mishaps trying to apply for a mortgage i thought it would be good to start a thread to share any success stories to help encourage and reassure others in the same situation!
Hoping to hear some!

I'm in the same position as you. 3 defaults. 2 of those about to drop off and one almost 4 years old. No credit problems since then. Awaiting a mortgage In principle check with Halifax. Nervously waiting!!!! Everything else is good, good deposit good earnings etc... We shall see:)0

i managed to get a mortgage last year with 1 default on my file.
however i am paying about £150 extra per month because of the interest rates
i went with a company called Aldermore0 -
It will depend on the fine details of each case so it is unlikely you will find someone else on here with the exact same history as you.
Get your statutory CRA files from Call Credit, Experian and Equifax in front of a mortgage broker who specialises in adverse credit (never an estate agency mortgage adviser), be totally honest about your situation, and they should be able to tell you what your options are (including how long you may need to wait).
{EDIT - forgot to say, I had a DMP with all kinds of stuff going on although the only thing remaining visible was a 5 year old partially settled credit card from MBNA and I had agreed F&F settlements with the remaining DMP creditors so I was no longer in the DMP when I started looking to move house this time around. I got a 1.79% offset from Woolwich using a broker. However, I had a very large deposit and a good salary so my experience doesn't indicate your likely chances of success or failure}0 -
Nice to have a bit of support! I understand no story is the same but nice to not feel so alone in the battle!
I've got One default from EE dated January 2015. We've to 5% saved now and aiming to have 10% by May. Our mortgage broker has approached a lender to see what they're happy to lend us so waiting nervously to hear back! Our earnings are good and other halves credit history is perfect. Just mine haha so no pressure :PCredit score slowly improving!0 -
Will be following this thread! Hoping to get a mortgage in the near future with my partner but with a few defaults from 2011-13 it'll be tricky to say the least!0

My other halfs credit is fine too... Makes me feel like a pain lol but he knew it when we moved in together so hey ho0

I feel so much pressure because without these issues we could've probably done it by now! Ah well, can't change the past! Keep checking my phone hoping to hear back from the broker!Credit score slowly improving!0

Same! We were meant to hear Monday but it's got delayed. I'm not good with all this!
We need to move desperately as we are in a 2 bedroom flat with a teenager and a one year old. Really need a family home now! Worst comes to worst we are going to end up having to rent out flat out and rent somewhere else until I get accepted0 -
Me either! I live at home with my parents and my four year old and my other half lives with his parents. It's not ideal anymore and sharing a room with the four year old is getting a bit much! We're ready for our own space now!
Fingers crossed you hear back this week!!Credit score slowly improving!0 -
Hi Stuart,
What sort of deposit did they require from you? We've seen a lot of places that want a 15% deposit, which by the time we've saved that the credit problems won't be an issue anymore :rotfl:
Not to add that another two years of living with mum and dad might just push me over the edge!Credit score slowly improving!0
