What annoys me is when they put up a sign saying to tick the box to prove that you are not a robot but there is no box to tick :mad:0

Thank you papa golf , I use an iPhone and ipad as well as my desktop is gmx still the best option for me ?I'm having the same problem with Virgin – unable to send emails for several days.
This happened a couple of weeks ago and Virgin told me it was the fault of the email program I have on my Mac. They said it needed to be deleted and reinstalled, but that I might lose my all my emails if that was done. Since I was reluctant for this to happen, I decided to ask an expert on computers about this when he came back from Spain a few days later. He did so, changed a few settings in about five minutes, and the email worked immediately.
Now again, the out email is not working. I suspect Virgin are doing something at their end that makes the settings on computers not work. I'll have to ask my expert to come and fix this issue again, but it is most unsatisfactory and Virgin should reimburse customers for this fault – not to mention giving them wrong information about how the problem should be fixed!
There has been a 'fault message' on Virgin's help phoneline for several days, and it seems they still haven't fixed this problem!
I've been with Virgin for a long time, but am seriously thinking of leaving them, since I need an efficient email system for work.
P.S. I've just spoken to someone at Virgin and they say the current issue is due to the fact that they are changing to a different system – should be fixed after 4 today (optimistically!).
It was apparently fixed about an hour ago but I still didn't have email - but I have now reinstalled Thunderbird and all looks fine, no apology, no email no nothing from Virgin and I also signed up for a text message to alert me when error was fixed- and that never arrivedI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Alternatively, if you already own a domain name, you could use that for your email. Depends on your hosting package whether it covers outgoing email too - but with Virgin (which I have also) - you just need to register the email address(es) that you'll be using with them, in order to be able to send email from that address while connected to Virgin.
I've found the broadband to be a bit temperamental over the past couple of weeks too, keep having to reboot my sky box which is a bit of a faff.0 -
Well Virgin email is still not working properly this morning. I'm receiving emails on my virgin.net account but anything I try to send doesn't seem to be going anywhere even though there are no SMTP error messages popping up and they appear in the Sent folder of my email client Windows Live mail.
Looking at the VM Community Forums it seems like plenty of other people are having similar problems. I do have a Gmail account but I need to stick with the @virgin.net because I've had it for years and it is so widely used.
I wish VM would pull their corporate finger out!... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
For those applying for financial services I would avoid GMX accounts. I was declined more than 3 times by a large lender and when I finally got through to them they said it was because they don't lend to people who apply with GMX email accounts [amongst others]. They also said they had credit checked me 3 times [which apparently the FCA requires them to tell me] and this may well have damaged my rating further. The helpful call operator went on to say that providers like gmail or live are better as they check who you are by asking for a mobile or landline. The views expressed here are my own. Oblivion,
Can you not make use of the reply-to feature on your gmail account? Your email will be sent from the gmail account but will look and feel like the VM account. The views expressed here are my own.
