Forgive the title, want to keep it here!

So we have the draft deal.

The deal appears to be that we have the power to ask for a temporary brake on migrant benefits. This is something we already have - we can already ask.

It wouldn't be an outright break though as Cameron wanted, instead it would be graduated. So more money for each year they are here.

So that's the good bit - we've got the right to ask what we could already ask... Tusk has said no but offered us something else.

The EU though demand that we continue to pay child benefits to children living in another country. However, they say that we can align them to the cost of living in the other country (27 different, constantly changing benefit levels!!!) This is something they know will never happen as it will cost us so much on the administration side.

So, nothing really seems to have changed - but we've spent thousands sending people all over the place to sit in rooms talking about it all. And we'll spend thousands more co-ercing the rest of the EU to sign up to nothing much changing.

Edit: Suggestion on the radio that the break will only cover in work benefits. So out of work benefits will still be payable to anyone who arrives.

Cameron has now stated that the draft deal delivers "substantial change". Bit silly really as it's clear to everyone Cameron got none of what he wanted, but rather crumbs of "comfort".

you missed out the bit that all the other countries in the EU would have to agree to it

when cameron says that this is a substantial reform does he really think the british public are totally stupid

None of us really expected him to gain any concessions, did we?

I fear that brexit is becoming ever slightly more possible. And I really don't want that. It would scupper my long term plans.

Currently watching Cameron talking about this 'deal'. I don`t think I've ever seen a British PM look so weak and ineffectual. He even looks embarrassed for himself as he attempts to try and sell it to the British people.

I'd personally limit EU interaction to: just trade/goods + the bits of law that we think are OK.

    Stuff the rest.

    What are betfair saying?

Does this launch the starting gun for a June referendum or is there a delay while the 'temperature is guaged'? I know the intention is to get it out of the way as quickly as possible as it is expected to get harder to win as time goes on (and immigrants role into Europe).
    I think....

No one is quite sure on that one - though my guess would be it gets delayed based on this.

Though I have to say, Cameron is simply making things worse by pretending he's got more than he has. I don't know why politicians embarrass themselves like he is currently doing. Everyone is laughing at the stance of pretending it's some kind of victory, even his own MPs.

I think people would welcome a bit of honesty in this debate - and Cameron simply saying they are tough negotiations would be a start instead of pretending we have some kind of victory.

Cameron will end up "bottling" out of a June referendum, if this is "all" he has managed to get....

What do you mean here? Is there some footage I'm missing out on? Should I turn the tele on?

Not exciting enough to turn the TV on. Just awkwardness really as he addresses an audience while claiming to have held all his pledges and suggesting that this "deal" is significant change - when it's anything but.

Lots of buzz words in answer to questions, but no actual answers.

The biggest issue though is he has simply refused to accept that the proposals have been watered down - even though they clearly (to everyone else) have.

Instead he is suggesting he has got the "emergency brake", while ignoring the fact that it's nothing like he was intending and that he has "got what he wants". (That's what's being reported on BBC 5 live for example).

Oh right, I thought you meant people were literally laughing at him on TV as he have his little wibble. That would have been worth turning on for.
