  • Evening all,

FROGGA 'ow much!! Can you credit that, but as I said earlier "what goes around comes around" you have obviously been a good friend previously and DH has been a good worker and this is your reward.

Quiet day here, made some bread and some of the cookies with condensed milk- they are fab but have been good and put two-thirds of raw mix in the freezer for another time.

Ham and pasta bake for tea-must go and make now, take care all DeeDeexx

Shez nice to see you posting again. I don't have much to say these days either but I still enjoy reading and posting here. I don't know how you coped with the "smoking" car. I would have abandoned it in panic!
frogga what a lovely friend you have. As mioliere says, you must be a good friend to her too for her to give you so much money without a moment's hesitation.
Blairweech the holidays seem to have knocked a few of us off the OS wagon so I wouldn't worry too much. I'll be climbing back on myself next week when DS and DD go back to school.

Well, I reserved "The Tightwad Gazette" online for collection at my local library. Got a letter today saying the one and only copy in the whole of the Preston area has "gone missing"! Now that's just taking Money Saving to the extreme if you ask me. I'm a bit miffed really as I wanted to read it and photocopy the sections that I felt were most relevant to me. I now need to buy it. I know enough of you have the book and recommend it so I suppose if I get a secondhand copy (Green Metropolis don't have one  ) it won't be too bad.

DD and I have been making some Christmas cards. I'm beginning to feel more confident in making them and am really pleased with the couple I have done tonight.

Bugsy Malone is on (one of DD's favourite films) so we are now going to have a sing-alonga-Bugsy. :D xx

    good_evening.gifeveryone.

I have just finished cleaning through and need to have a rethink of our finances over the next couple of months tonight, as OH will not be coming home and is to be transferred to Manchester on Monday for surgery. Allthough it is what he needs and what we have both been expecting for months it has left us both rather shellshocked. He is very upset as the thought of the operation terrifies him but hopefully in a week or so it will be done and and he will be way better than he is now.

The kids were given some sweets today and the eldest has been swinging off the light bulbs for the last few hours which hasn't been a pleasant experience and it just reinforces the reason why we don't buy them any. They have the odd bar of chocolate from Lidl or Aldi as they have nothing 'bad' in them and everything else that comes in to the house is vetted before they get it.

Anyway I best get off and see if I can settle him as his bunk bed squeaks and I can hear him getting on and off it like a cat on speed.

    Evening everyone.
Frogga special friends like that are rare, and i too am lucky enough to have one who is a real diamond. She too has `lent` me money before finding help in this site and going on the dmp then told me she didnt want it back just wanted dh to paint the living room!!LOL.
I have a page full of friend quotes in a word doc, that i save to use in emails for her birthday cards ect, my 2 favourite being
A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and sings it to you when you forget the words, or Friends are like wedgies, their intimately close, they know your inner self, and it feels great when you pick a good one out!!

I had a great day visiting my sister, kids had a great time as we left them with my brother in law whilst me and sister when to look in local bargin shop, the fact he was at work in the nightclub he manages they though was great, as they got to run riot on the dance floors with the music blasting out!! (and play around on the poles, its a lapdancing club but enough said about that, as its a bit of a family secret, his side of the family have no idea what sort of club he manages, and the kids dont know either they thought the poles were for spinning until your dizzy on!!!!

    Hope your all ok

    Evening all,

Hugs to all in need and happy birthday to anyone celebrating this week.

Have been busy most of the day shopping...decided to try and do most of the monthly shop this week, apart from fresh fruit, veg, milk and suchlike to be bought as needed. Spent €179.05 which leaves me about €5 a day for the month, managed to get to oriental supermarket and stock up on rice, gallon vinegar and half a ton of noodles...ok half a stone! I now have enough fish and meat to see us through about 25 dinners, there will be some pizza ones and whatever else I can drag from somewhere to feed us without spending any money.

    Jet77...nice to see you back

Frogga...now that is a friend! Go after those Baskets for OHs money though.

JuliaP...glad you are home and congrats on the SU place

Csarina...take care and get that medication sorted.

Kyle...I have several miniatures that someone brought from America to OH years ago...congrats on your achievement and keep them going while you have them.

MrsMcawber...congrats on the weight loss...the more I make at home the more I eat and the more weight I put on...any day now will get a grip.

Smoky...hugs to you all, especially your OH...

Chalky...hope that the party was a surprise and a success...it will be hard having him under your feet all day although if you plan your time well you will find lots to do together.

Blairweech...glad that the new abode has a garden, you will love it when you get used to it.

Love to Catowen, Queenie, Anniestar and anyone else needing or wanting some tlc.

    Evening all

Hugs and birthday wishes to all those in need.

We had a great time away - some great days out with our Mr T's vouchers and a great deal with the hotel at £15 per night. I can heartily recommend the National Space Centre in Leicester - DD's both loved it and we spent hours there. To continue the OS theme we took cereal/bowls etc so we could have breakfast in the room each morning and then found a Bella Itallia in every place we visited so we could use yet more Mr T's vouchers :j

DH was feeling poorly the entire time but knew how much DD's were looking forward to the break but has now gone downhill rapidly and is in bed feeling sorry for himself.

I've used tonight wisely to rack up another £106 on quidco - this includes buying a phone on contract (which I swore I'd never do) but this deal was great - free phone - £35 per month - 400 free mins and 500 free texts per month - £95 cash back via phone dealership - £60 cashback via quidco and a free Wii console and game!!!! - We were saving to buy DD's a Wii between them for Xmas so this is great - we worked out that with the saving in calls and texts per month we'll be £1 per month better off and have a Wii to show for it - I like deals like that.

Doing a boot fair on Sunday - everything is stacked in the hall and we can hardly move but hoping to make a fair whack. Have just found out that a friend can get us as much scrap wood as we need for free (he works in a factory that uses a lot of wood - all the scrap gets chucked normally) so we should be ok for fire wood this year.

Hope you've all had a great day - I'm off to feed more cough mixture to DH before he drops off to sleep.

  • Hi there folks

have just had police here re DS's missing phone and ipod. Was just feeling down as kids arguing about who is to blame (they were being looked after by DD when pinched). Anyway came here and saw smokeybabes post- puts my tiny problem ito perspective. Smokeybabe I am sooooo sorry to hear the bad news. I live in Manchester- is there anything i can do to help. Is it Wythenshawe Hospital he is going to? Anyway if you need any info or anything else PM me. My thoughts are with you and yours.

    love to all DeeDee xxxx

  • Oh boy I need to make some cash, I have just bought a sewing machine retail price £3495...........for £1500...........as many of you know I am a sewer but also like embroidery, I can no longer see to do cross stitch, this machine is a top of the range and will allow me to expand my sewing........and I am hoping to start doing emblems on clothing too. this machine combines both an embrodery machine and a sewing machine in one, so no more space needed. I have to decide what to do with the machine I have........but its going into the loft for now.........I may sell it later.........

I will let you know hwow I get on, can see OH having to get his own suppers from now on, I could be otherwise engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took one of my tablets this morning, no effect, will take the other one tonight and see what happens, if its ok it must have been something I ate...I had a tuna roll with tomato and cucumber and carrot cake.............will try the carrot cake but doubt it was that...bit of a mystery really, I just knew it was not a heart attack, the symptoms were wrong..........and it was not a pain, just a burning feeling.

I am off to ;lie down having just spent so much cash, need to recover...LOL
September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

    Tesco £57.13
    Petrol £10.00
