csarina - glad yr trip was ok. enjoy yr wine! whats the latest on the loft hatches??
At the moment we are awaiting a call from HRH, OH suggested to her that when a rental agreement is signed, if the person is wishing to store articles in the attic a list is supplied and attached to the agreement, so when the tenant dies/leaves things can be moved. I gather she is away just now.....
We have enough booze in the house right now to enjoy 2 bottles a week until we go again...................plus a crate of bier blonde......of which we have just had two very nicely chilled bottles with our lunch.September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

Right, back from the hospital. They didn't tell me anything, so I'll have to wait for my GP to get the results. Was a lovely cool, dark room, I could quite happily of gone to sleep there!!
Blimin' busy at work. It's just non-stop. Think I'm going to move in here there's so much to do:rotfl: But I'm taking it slowly and pacing myself
Just had a call from a friend who has informed me I am going out tonight! Don't know where, but there we go. Will be good just to chill out.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
well, DH stayde home from work today so he's doing the laundry; he's just gone off to see about an allotment, pop into the local store for milk, and find the bin so we can recycle our plastic bottles that we've had since we moved in.
I made a sourdough date cake. Turns out better than if I make muffins, which is what the recipe is. DH going ot make a loaf of bread as well. Raclette tonight - a veggie one.
Off to do some x stitch now!0 -
Hi, was about to post about 3 hours ago until my phone rang...
It was the old lady from next door's carer who couldn't get a response from her and so as I have a spare key for her could I go and check on her. Unfortunately I found her lying on a chair having a diabetic turn. We phoned for an ambulance and then spent the next 2 hours trying to get her to eat lots of sugary things. Thankfully her blood sugar levels went up but she was still confused but refused to go to hospital. Her brother turned up and he's keeping an eye on her. It was quite a shock as I'd never done anything like that before and also the carer who was only about 20 was really upset as well! The 2 female paramedics were great though and at least I now know what to do next time.
Anyway I haven't done much else today apart from some washing which is hanging in the spare bedroom as it's been raining on and off here today. DD1 is about to have a sax lesson and tonight's tea is a lazy one...pizza and oven chips.
I did read the thread but I'm afraid I've forgotten most of it so big hugs to anyone who needs one and happy birthday to anyone celebrating today.
Have a good evening!0 -
BUSYGIRL - thank goodness you were there with the key. It must have been quite frightening at the time. Hope she continues to improve.
SHEZ - yes, the urban legend that is the streetsweeper appeared this morning but, when I had returned from shopping later on, the grass verges had been strimmed and the cuttings were all over the road. Distinct lack of communication somewhere! I'm wondering if we are having a royal visit or something - this quiet little road has never had so much attention!
Well, did my tiny shop at the Co-op this morning, then picked up some more wool to finish the Mr Bean's Teddy that I'm knitting for DS2 (25yo!) and was tempted to buy some more wool for other projects even though I have tons of the stuff in the spare room! Managed to pick up a scrapbooking book and a book of knitted toy patterns in the charity shop then, when I got home, my Amazon delivery arrived so I have books all over the place. I bought a book on self-sufficiency for DS1's birthday (he is 36 next week - OMG!), The Great Big Glorious Book for Girls - two, one for me and one for my mum whose birthday is near the end of September, another book - 211 Things a Bright Boy Can Do, for DGS for Christmas - I've just glanced through it and there's a section on how to take snuff so it may have to be censored! I also bought Martins' Thrifty Ways book so plenty of reading for me, which I don't mind at all! I also bought some new baking trays because mine are so old they're starting to look rusty, so I shall make some cakes tomorrow because the grandchildren will be round on Sunday. I haven't made the chutney yet but will do that tomorrow as well - probably after I've been to the gym.
Have decided to have cod, new potatoes, sugarsnap peas and parsley sauce for dinner and the rest of the stewed plums and greengages for pudding.
DS2 and his GF phoned from their holiday hotel in Majorca - they're having a brilliant time - all four star facilities, full board, all they can eat and drink, lovely hotel room, two swimming pools, brilliant weather and all for £700 for two for a week. They're seriously impressed!
Anyway, must go and get the washing in and think about starting my dinner. Will call in later.

Afternoon all,
I'll put some pics of the new abode up soon, it isn't quite 'home' yet though - it's getting there slowly. I also have two new cats - Patch and Sox - which I'll post pics of later.
Have had a week off work this week and spent the time knocking a hole in our front wall for a gate - sounds easy, but not when it's a drystone wall about a foot and a half thick full of ants nests. Anyway, it's done now and the fenceposts are in. However now OH has decided he isn't skilled enough to rebuild the wall so has gone to call in the cavalry.
Have bought some bulbs to plant in the garden - this will be a new experience for me as have never done gardening before. Our garden needs quite a lot of digging over though before we can really plant anything - do have space for a veg patch though!
OS has gone *completely* out the window since moving out of Plymouth - really must get back on the wagon, especially now I've got the internet back. So I guess the first step is to look through the old freezer and plan some meals. Rest of the this avo will be spent ironing and looking for car/home/pet insurance.
Dinner tonight is Toad in the Hole followed by apple crumble.
Hope you are all well and hope to get bak on track with you soon xWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Evening all,
Had a really lovely last day with my guests from Manchester. went out for a smashing luch , really delicious! ~ and no washing up!
You might remember back in July , my friend offered to give me £10 for every 1lb I could loose before she came down. Didn't know wether to take it as it meant she had to give me £200 !!! however you all agreed I should and it would buy D tadpoles uniform.
She is such a graet friend and has been here when we had the upset over Mr Frog loosing his job this week and not getting last weeks wages. Not only did she spend ages typing up a very professional sounding letter to Mr Frogs old employer ( she is a top tax accountant and dead clever!) she GAVE me £600. Not a loan , a give!
We have been friends since we started primary school together aged 4. Mr Frog went to primary school with us too so we have both known her for 30 years. I know she would walk bare foot to china for us and it's not everyone that can say they have friends like that.
She says she can afford it and she knows if the boot were on the other foot et.c ................... I feel so emotional about it all as it's been a tough week and look at what my friend did for me.
Can't say anymore xxSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D
