HSBC randomly defaulted savings account !!!

Hi guys.

Hoping for some advice. Am due to apply for a mortgage soon - had past credit issues and defaults but have had good progress and everything is looking much better with all but one of my defaults about to fall off!

Anyway after seeing my mortgage advisor on Saturday I looked at my equifax report (I usually keep a check on things with experian).

I had an item that said "bank default from HSBC" it does not have a default amount or date on it.

I called the bank and they advised it was an old savings account that had a debit card with it and it had gone overdrawn by £9 in 2009. I do not recall any letters regarding this and if there were they never ever mentioned it going into default. This is down as "settled" in 2013 when they closed the account. So obv whatever this is won't drop off for years yet. Is this an official default? They didn't make me aware of it and there is no balance and it wasn't for credit in Any way.

I remember them writing to me saying they were closing the account because it hadn't been used for years but never anything about defaulting.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks xx

Just wanted to add this account also appears on my closed account list on noddle and nowhere does it say it's been in default. Just open, closed and that it was settled the day they closed the account. Very confused. Even HSBC said they don't normally default savings accounts when I first called

I can't say I've ever heard of a savings account with a debit card attached to it - that would be a current account. Savings accounts can sometimes have a card attached, but that is only to withdraw/add funds into the account and you certainly wouldn't be able to use it in a shop/online or go overdrawn.

What is this from? Something the mortgage advisor told? If it's from your Equifax report can you explain it a bit more clearer please because that is not how they report things. Can you take a screenshot?

Thanks. It was an instant access savings account - so it had card, they confirmed that when I called.

The bank default From HSBC was from equifax. It doesn't show on experian and on noddle it shows as a closed account - no mention anywhere of a default. There's no default balance or dates and there are no "green or red circles" showing any payment history. So confusing :(

Ah done :) thanks for any advice you can give me, mainly would like to know if I have grounds to get this off? Seems a bit ridiculous being a savings account and they never told me x

Is it showing in the active accounts or closed accounts section in your Equifax report?

It doesn't say either,. Doesn't seem as though there is seperate sections it just has a long list. Weirdly it shows as my current address which is odd because I didn't live here in 2013. On noddle it shows as a closed account.
