HSBC randomly defaulted savings account !!!

This is not a default, there is no default date and it would show as satisfied not settled. This will have no impact on your mortgage application. Your broker should confirm this, I suspect the default is to do with equifax terminology for the account type.
Fermi should confirm this.

Oh thank you! I really appreciate you telling me that. It is very misleading they write the word default in there!!!
So there's probably no point contacting HSBC again then. I did think it was odd that on noddle there is no mention of a default.
Thanks again

Looks like Equifax having their systems get confused - yet again. The data implies no default, but the title wrongly labels it as one. Daft.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I have sent them a message about it, maybe they'll Change it?
I assume their mistakes are a regular thing then.
Thanks for all your help

I'm making an assumption there, but even if there was conflicting data from the creditor Equifax's QA should have picked it up if it worked correctly.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You would think!
Let's hope the mortgage company don't question it!0 -
Raise a dispute via Noddle with exactly what you have said on this forum. They will make a request to the bank to remove the errors. To be perfectly honest, £9 is a joke. And any late payments can affect your credit file for 7 years. The fact the account was closed in 2013 indicates there was no funds owed at the time else they would not have been able to close the account. Really, I would dispute this.0

Thanks - this is Equifax, noddle doesn't show this account as a default, simply a closed account. That's one of the reasons I think it's wrong. Along with me not being notified of any default. I will do that though thank you. I have already sent one email questioning it, I will request it be removed as default once they reply0

Do you still have access to the online banking with HSBC to review your statements? If not, I'd request them. But do not do this as 'statement request' as they can charge you approximately £10 per statement. Instead, ask for a 'transaction request' which is free - you should be able to calculate your balance from here.
HSBC should be obliged to hold 6 years worth of data providing you know your account number etc.0 -
Ok thanks for that I do have access but can't see anything as the account is closed, I still bank with HSBC as my current account which is the strange thing. If this account did somehow end up overdrawn should they have been able to default me 4 years after they said it went overdrawn without telling me? That's what I don't get also.
From what I've read on here and seen online and on noddle it looks like it may be a mistake. Surely one of them would have a default date and amount if it was a genuine one?0
