Long live the pressure cooker!. Been using them for 23 years now. Wouldn't be without, so versatile, so fast. Don't see the point of a slow cooker if you don't have the time to prepare food in the morning.

At last! A poll to settle that age-old OS debate.
And pressure cooker is winning so far... that's quite a surprise!
I find my slow cooker is great at weekends, especially if we have visitors as its a big one, but its the pressure cooker that is used several times in the week when we get in from work. On Monday late pm we bought an organic boiling fowl (£3 bargain! The roasting ones are over £11, though they do have a little more meat on) to put in the slow cooker, but then decided we really wanted to eat it that day so into the pressure cooker it went. Half an hour later we had gorgeous chicken and yummy stock. :jladygrey wrote:which do you use the most though and which is best in terms of taste
PC use more as more convenient, SC wins marginally in terms of taste but not much in it.
p.s. Our dog is scared of it though :rotfl::shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

The poll questions aren't proper alternative choices as I always cook from scratch and I can do this because I use a pressure cooker.
I'm particularly keen for people to be aware how good pressure cookers are for pulses. Red Kidney beans, chick peas, butter beans, soya beans can all be cooked in minutes see Pressure Cooker RecipesMy weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I have been scared of using a pressure cooker since my older cousin had hers blow up and singe her eyebrows.
Mind you, this is the same cousin who left an iron switched on - on the ironing board and it burnt its way through the board and the carpet underneath!;)"This site is addictive!"

My dad use to use a Pressure cooker when i was a child, i think my grandmother taught him how to use it.
To be honest - it scares me.0 -
I use a SC as it suits me working nights
I fill it when I get in from work and there's a meal ready for everyone without me rushing around when I get out of bed, if I don't fancy a big meal myself I can take a portion to work and reit there for my breakI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Can't answer the poll
Cold Weather: slow OVEN
Hot Weather: slow Cooker
Out all day: Slow Cooker
In all day: slow/fast oven (weather dependant)
Most meals are cooked from scratch even if cooked in the SC or the Oven.

I didn't realise pressure cookers were so popular0

My mother used to frighten the wits out of us with a slow cooker, that wee thingy on the top was always flying off and hitting the ceiling.
But I must say after reading aliasojo's posts I might just have a look at one again.0 -
I just use my gas cooker and a pan.
