Recommend me a pressure cooker

I'm looking for one as well. Argos do one for £35. They have a couple on Amazon for about £40. The bigger Prestige one doesn't get good reviews.
The thing that put me off the John Lewis one was replacement gaskets. I don't think they would be as easily available as Prestige, or Tower. Gaskets need replacing every few years.
Good luck in your hunt.0 -
Jazzy_B has a good point - ideally the spares should be available in Spain. Every country seems to have their own local pressure cooker brand (here in France it is SEB), but I notice that Tefal is pretty much available all over Europe. Maybe that is worth thinking about."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

No, to clarify, the pressure cooker is for us to use here in England, so any spares would need to be available here only - but my father-in-law who lives in Spain is buying it. But ideally online, rather than buying it there and then posting it to us, as I can't imagine how much that would cost in postage costs!
Many thanks for above tips! Any more - in particular the Tower ones, which I found somewhere at a good price, but not seen any reviews? Or Tefal ones?
We used to have a Prestige one, I think, but all the new Prestige ones get TERRIBLE reviews on Amazon, so a bit put off.. Anyone had a different experience?0 -
Sorry, got the wrong end of the stick there! I have a Tower one myself, which is doing excellent service, but I have never had another one so I am unable to compare.
I do have my eye on a Fissler now if I would buy another one - they seem fabulous, but quite expensive."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

I'm on my second Tower cooker. THBOMK spares are only available from the HQ in Manchester. I go there about once every 4 years and collect some spares (gaskets). Prestige gaskets are widely available. Other brands I don't know about.

Hi Carol,
There's a recent thread with some more recommendations on it so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.

The 6litre Prestige one has now gone down to £36 at Amazon0

My £20 Lidl pressure cooker is on it's last legs. I can't get replacement parts for it anywhere. Where's the best place to get a new one? I'm lost without it as I use it for potatoes, soups stews etc.
Looked at one today and TBH I didn't fancy paying £60 for a replacement model.
Anyone recommend anywhere to get one? Bear in mind I'm in Northern Ireland so don't have Wilkinsons or Costco etc
Any hints and advice appreciated0 -
Hi ark,
I think Tower pressure cookers are pretty good and are quite reasonably priced in Argos
There are quite a few recommendations on this earlier thread that might help:
