What's the problem with the pressure cooker?
The Lidl pressure cooker that I have (6L, Splendid) states on the box 'Ten years guaranteed delivery for spare parts'. I think there was a telephone number for spare parts in the instruction booklet that came with it. That I can't find at the moment.
Another thing if considering buying new or for spare parts is that I reckon the Lidl 6L pressure cooker came out of the same factory in Spain as some of the Tower pressure cookers. The styling is too similar. Don't know if that still applies now. What goes around - comes around

Hi
I'm thinking about buying a pressure cooker. Has anyone got experience with a recent Prestige or Tower pressure cooker. Are they any good?
Thanks in advance

I currently have a Prestige Hi-Dome - the one with the 'smaller domed' lid. Although I love pressure cookers, this one has disappointed me by the size of the internal basket and the design of the 'trivet'.
The 'basket' is only about 1 and half inches deep and much less in diameter than the internal measurements of the pan! Once you put the divider across it, it's neither use nor ornament! And the trivet is a strange v-shaped piece of metal that the basket balances on.
Our original Hi-Dome had three internal baskets about half the depth of the pan itself and the trivet was a flat piece of metal (with colander-like holes in it) that practically filled the base of the pan.
They do still produce the original Hi-Dome with the taller lid, but if I were you, I'd check out the entire contents of the box before purchasing in case they have changed their specification.0 -
I read Kittie's post, on the If things get tougher thread, about how much cheaper she reckons the pressure cooker is compared to the slow cooker and started to wonder. It's ages since I used my pressure cooker, in fact I gave it away, but was that a mistake?
I think I prefer the slow cooker for taste, but wondered what other people feltOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
i like mine for the size and the fact it cooks my potatoes really quickly, and for great fast stews. (pressure cooker)
but i wouldnt be without the slowcooker as its great for casseroles when we've been out for the day and have the time to get things done before we go out.em x

I'd have said they were 2 different bits of kit with different uses, but then that's coming from the memory of childhood with overcooked veg (everything went in the pressure cooker for the same length of time), compared with the very tasty tender meals I get out of my slow cooker!Make £2025 in 2025

Hi TVT. My post wasn`t about taste etc but purely about cost. The pressure cooker is far and away cheaper than the slow cooker, when I use it on the little induction hob that I have. I cannot speak for a gas hob as there is a lot of wasted heat. If I were working then I would stick with the sc as it is nice to come home to a ready cooked meal0

Yes, yes, I appreciate that Kittie, but it did get me wondering.
I am at home all day, so could use the cheaper option, and I suppose if I left my pot of stew or whatever and reheated it next day, the flavours would have time to mellow and permeate. I just wondered what other people felt about it.
I hope no offence was taken, because none was meant.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
