  • Got a HUGE boost today: £500 grant towards a writing course :j It leaves me with £250 of the cost remaining, so it would be great if I can earn all of that over the next 2 months. Got £30 due from SB any day now, so I'm going to put that towards paying off the £100 deposit I had to put on my CCto confirm my place! Really excited (not to mention nervous) and even more motivated to earn extra cash :)
    That's fantastic! Well done!!!

No the shop said they didn't take it in because it had a 'to home' label and not a 'to store' label on it so they wouldn't get paid for taking it in and gave it back to the delivery guy.

    Apparently.

There's no record of this on the system and collect+ keep telling me to talk to ebay, who tell me to talk to collect+

It was last scanned as being "delivered" to the addressed store.

I use collect+ quite a lot because they are cheap for larger and heavier parcels.

    They operate 2 systems
    A) a normal courier service - where they deliver to the house of the buyer.
    B) a shop to shop service (Which is cheaper) - when it gets to the shop and is scanned, the buyer gaets an e-mail or text to say it is in and makes his way there to pick it up. He needs to show ID I believe and I think he has to sign for it.

Now B) is very similar to ebays"Argos to Argos" system and they don't publicise the collect+ option.

It seems you've sent your parcel "To the shop" as though the shop was the customer using option A)

So the shop refused delivery as the customer would not get his e-mail or txt to say it had arrived and it would not get collected. They would then be stuck with a parcel they didn't want and your customer would be denied his goods.

I'm not sure how you would unwind this, but I hope this helps you to understand what the problem is. I didn't realise that your goods haven't been received back by you though.

Hope this helps a bit anyway.

Collect+ website doesn't make it easy to find the "shop to shop" option either

email ceo and tell him the whole saga. it is his responsibility to sort this mess out not yours. you have done your bit. and the couriers have messed up

I agree with Aesop - get in touch with CEO and explain that their website does not explain the "Shop to shop" service properly without you dig right down for it.

I emailed the CEO with the whole story, and a notice of action that if I didn't either get my parcel or the value thereof I'd pursue it though the courts. He emailed back just now promising to personally investigate

My replies are clearly late agin - lol :rotfl:

Well they haven't - that's exactly the issue. The shop CLAIM they gave it back to the driver but the package was last logged as "delivered" at the customer's store - and yes he did indeed get an email to go collect it. When he got there the shop said that they gave it back to the driver.

So given that he received an email that it had been delivered I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it was the right label. It got scanned, he got notified, when he got there he was told the parcel had been sent back.

I purchased the label through ebay as recommended by collect+ and when you do that there are no options for different labels. It went off addressed to the shop "Mount Pleasant Stores Reddich for *customer name*"

Nobody's got a clue where the parcel is because it just went awol after they "gave it back to the driver" but since ebay didn't pass the label details on to collect+ or verify them or something (?????) collect+ won't give me any info about it because I "can't prove it's my parcel"

ETA: the parcel has been completely unaccounted for since the 16th.

Lesson fo rall of us there I think Aesop !

Well he said the strangest thing in the email - he's going to look into it anyway as I've been given the right old runaround - but that my contract is with ebay NOT collectplus which makes no sense to me. Yes, I bought and paid for the postage through the ebay-linked system but... ebay aren't a courier. It was never going to be ebay... delivering... the parcel...

    ...........

Aha - I see it now - You've been in your local shop and seen the "parcel service" which the shopkeepers know is "shop to shop" and then you bought the label through ebay and assumed it was the "shop to shop" service - when as I said ebay keep the "shop to shop" part quiet because it competes with their "Argos" and is far closer to most people than their nearest "Argos"

Best of luck with it girl ! I'll come back if I think of anything which might be helpful x

Not quite. I used Collect+ at the strict request of the buyer. I went on the Collect+ site where it says if you're doing it for an ebay item to use the "print postage label" function on ebay and select Collect+ - which I did. I then paid for the label, stuck it on the parcel, and dropped it off at my nearest point.

It got to the other end, got scanned, buyer (T) received an email to say it had arrived there, got to the shop, and was told that they'd sent it back - AFTER it had been scanned and processed as delivered. T was told it would be sent back to me.

Cue one week later and no sign of it and no update on tracking info.

Collect+ have a technical error with ebay at the moment whereby labels purchased through ebay are not showing up in their system with any details on them. On their system all they are seeing is blank labels with no dispatch or return names/addresses. Because they can't verify who I am (what with not having any details) they flat-out refuse to discuss the parcel with me. So I can't launch an investigation into where the hickle heckle my parcel is.

They (collect+) told me that ebay have to contact them to track down the parcel, and that the info can then be relayed to me, until such time as this technical hitch or whatever it is gets fixed and they start getting info again. They (collect+) say this process is at ebay's request.

Problem is ebay have absolutely no idea about any of this and won't cooperate and tell me to talk to collect+. Both sides refuse to provide any info or look into the whereabouts of the parcel.

The supposed "wrong label" is why the store apparently sent it back and has nothing to do with why Collect+ won't talk to me about it.

As for the CEO's statement that "my contract is not with collect+" - that's bull. I paid Collect+ to deliver a parcel. eBay are not a courier company. It isn't possible to have a contract with eBay to deliver a parcel. The contract is not with eBay - but the issue is, at least from a technical issue standpoint.

EDIT: all that said it's still ridiculous that Collect+ won't talk to me when I have all the details just because ebay's side of the system is throwing up a blank label. What, I'm going to have alllll those details for a parcel that isn't mine? "You can't prove it's your parcel" - um? Yes? I can? And even if I couldn't what POSSIBLE thing could I have to gain for launching an investigation into the whereabouts of someone else's parcel

Do you see now? The kind of label was used and what service was selected is, at this point, more than completely irrelevant. The issue here is not being able to launch a complaint or investigation into a missing parcel because both sides refuse to talk to me about it due to a technical glitch that nobody will take responsibility for.

That certainly SOUNDS like the right type of label Lex - and if he got the e-mail, that confirms it to me and I suspect it should to the ceo as well.

Both the shop and the driver have bar scanners, so I'm not sure who would have scanned it as "delivered" to the shop - but it sounds to me as though it should be in the shop - and how do they "KNOW" with such certainty that it was "Your" parcel which was wrongly labelled ? if indeed they sent it back ?

My guess is the driver scanned it and handed it over and the shop handed it back. Except it didn't get re-scanned or marked for return because it's not been seen since!

As to the certainty - perhaps the shop don't get many parcels so when T went to pick it up they knew they'd sent it back as it was the only one to come in that day?

It's anyone's guess where it is since, as I say, they won't talk to me about it or attempt to locate it.
