The Mad World of Donald Trump

I love the arrogant British sniffy liberal attitude to Trump - it reveals an ignorance on their part as to the true reasons driving his vote - namely wanton industrial / business decline thanks to an elite squeezing ever more profit for themselves at the sake of everyone else by way of off shoring*
Indeed shows a complete lack of understanding. Although we speak the same language. That's a gulf in culture and attitudes between us.0 -
Bernie has announced that he is continuing to fight and has not thrown in the towel, even though it looks as though Hillary now has the nomination. It looks as though it goes to the end.
He has received 10.5m votes. Commentator says he's doing it to get concessions in the manifesto and to keep what he's started going. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Or perhaps expecting a Hillary problem - perhaps those email servers or a health issue?
The plan appeared to be to win California, and then lobby the superdelegates to switch to Sanders on the basis that he had a better chance of beating Trump. (California has not yet been called, but Hilary is 20 points ahead with 40% of the precincts reporting.)
Of course, that does not exclude the possibility that Hilary might get arrested and charged with some offence before the convention. I must admit I have no idea what the Democratic Party rules are in that eventuality, but I would have thought that they would not necessarily be obliged to pick Sanders.0 -

I'm not sure of the Democratic rules but the Republican rules are agreed by the Rules Committee prior to each convention. If Hillary was a Republican the Rules Committee could decide whether someone sitting in a police cell could be nominated. As the Democratic establishment seems absolutely determined that Hillary is going to be the next President I suspect that they'd put her up if she was on death row.
After all, she got beaten by a complete loser last time. What was his name again? I mean, who was going to vote in a black man as President.0 -

The contents of a US presidential candidate's manifesto means even less than the contents of a UK party manifesto.0 -
Associated Press has called California as a win for Hilary; 56% to 43% with 93% of the vote in. Which would be a bigger margin than expected. Not a good day for Bernie overall.
In other news, there were also five Republican primaries, all of which were won with fairly convincing margins by the last man standing.0 -

In case anyone missed it, the very last primary was held on the 14th in Washington DC. Hilary strolled home 79%-21%. (Well, the football is on, isn't it.)
The final pledged delegate totals appear to be Clinton 2218, Sanders 1833, according to 538 or 2219-1832 according to the NYT. (There is a difference of opinion as to whether Hilary won VI 7-0 or 6-1.)
The NYT makes the point that Clinton has beaten Sanders by a much bigger margin than Obama beat Clinton 2008
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/06/07/us/elections/clinton-sanders-delegate-fight.html
Back in 2008, the popular vote was basically 50:50 and Obama had a lead in pledged delegates of only 102. This time around Clinton seems to have won the popular vote 57:43 and has a 385 lead in delegates.
Not that Sanders has conceded. If democracy produces the wrong result, the best thing to do is to try and find a way to correct the mistake.0 -
Well it looks like the campaign proper is underway:

If he decides to start nuclear war will his stubby hands even be able to push the button all the way down?
