  • Time to back off from here for a while - I've been coming on here to vent my frustration and am finding that it is now exacerbating this. Matchbox, we have reduced our monthly outgoings and now have £500 extra to play with - obviously that will be absorbed by other things I have forgotten about!

I'll be back soon - time to look to myself for moral support, me thinks :happylove

    Groan about the car.

I am totally behind you re the schools. Which means OH has to get himself totally on board to support you (in all ways!) and make sure your children stay in the schools they love. I have everything crossed a lovely house will turn up asap.

It's all getting a bit dramatic ladies and gentlemen. OH hasn't spent the car money on rent - he just didn't rush to put the money in because he knew it was covered for a few days. The money has now gone in today after I asked him. All sorted. That part anyway.

Pelirocco - no, I haven't considered childminding - I am a professional who has been working blood, sweat and tears for eight years and have just achieved my qualification at last. No further comment on that - not sure if you were being deliberately provocative but yes, you won!!! That did rile me slightly.

I'm feeling fed up at the moment. Went to buy a car, just about to buy it and I decided to just do a few background checks on the company. Turns out he is the biggest con-merchant in town. Just our kind of luck at the moment but it has taken up my whole day. I guess it's just a lucky escape and we should feel glad.

I wasnt being provocative , I was looking for ways for you to survive even if for the short term, there is nothing wrong with working any job until you can cut your living costs to enable you live ( and save ) on the income you have
The bottom line is you have the power to turn this around , you have so many good things in your favour , good income , supportive parents , seize the day

  • I have still been reading and just want to wish you good luck on finding a car and a place to live that you are happy with. It is a shame that you have to move just at this time when you were beginning to turn things around and start working on your business. You have a lot of things to deal with but it seems to me that you are very determined to sort things out and get your family into a better position. How you do that and the route you follow is entirely up to you. Just keep your goals firmly in mind and you will get there. Take care and look after yourself.
  • At the risk of just saying what I think and not offering any help just support, I've think you've done massively well in the few weeks that you've been having a sort out. I totally get what you mean about not wanting to move the kids from school as important to you and them, OK you might not get the cheapest house in the world but this life is about a bit of give and take if it means that everyone will be happy whilst still working towards reducing debt and building your business then stick to your guns.

You've bared your soul, I know I wouldn't be that brave!

Use the opportunity to declutter before moving and get yourself ready, hopefully the compromise from not moving area would be to get a smaller house.

Anyway, hope you have a lovely weekend. C x

Thank you. Having a particularly bad day. Can't believe we almost spent thousands on a car to a guy with a criminal record and terrible past. Guess I should feel pleased. I would usually but just feel swamped. I don't even have OH to fall upon as we are barely talking.

I am absolutely happy to get a smaller house if we can find one. Also happy to drive a couple of miles in although my life will be a lot harder. I can't take the kids out of school. They were so happy in their previous private schools and we came marching in and pulled the rug out from under their feet. Daughter still misses her old friends and has become a terribly nostalgic girl. I know she really regrets leaving. However they do love their new schools which took us blood, sweat and tears to get into. We won't be moving them again. They have only just settled for the first time in their lives. I can't be that cruel. If we end up having to and the world comes crashing down because we tried to save them, then so be it.

Thanks for your equally cheerful ending paragraph getmore - feel a little let down after your wonderful support so far. Yes, we are moving but I've never liked the house anyway - but we won't be moving area so we will still be "going nowhere".

Off to bang my head against a brick wall.

Missed the point(don't think that light bulb is fully lit yet).

    Going nowhere financialy.

You have tackled the break even(maybe) there are still big ticket items, hubbys company accounts and taxes(a blackhole), the debts, manageable if the company can deliver the regular income (still unknown) going to reduce fast if the interest rates can be fixed(still to happen).

These things will take time but you need to address them.

Might be a good idea to back off from the micro managing and focus on the bigger picture along with your real goals.

The reality is you could have a small second car, you already said you sometimes have to do two runs so taking two cars for a few weeks when you all have to go out would save £100s very quickly and not long before it would be £1000s

Do you know what FT? I want to send you a huge hug! You're having a horrible day, and I guess that's all part of the journey. Tomorrow will be different. Well, not a lot will have changed probably, but you'll feel a little different!

You should totally congratulate yourself for avoiding the car catastrophe! You single handedly stopped your family from parting with the cash. Bravo!

And I'm also glad you've had such a strong reaction to moving the children from their schools. Finding boundaries in what we will/will not do in the name of getting rid of debt is a good thing. You now know that is NOT an option. Move forward with that information.

You're doing brilliantly. Remember that :money:
  • Focus on the positives FT of which there are many. I do think this is incredibly hard on you because of the lack of support from your OH which is undoubtedly causing friction. You are trying to do your best for your children, cut your outgoings and focus on getting yourself clients for your business, sort out a new car and a new house. All those things together add up to incredible stress. Try not to let the bad things take over and drag you down as you have done really well up until now.
