  • Good question. I always believe that, despite all of the previous failures, THIS one is the product that is going to make my hair un-frizzy, my nose smaller, my eyes bigger and my life perfect. I have a big stash of unused weird hair products that are too much faff to use.

My mum wore no makeup at all as I was growing up and is always telling me that women who present themselves well are shallow . . . so I suppose my stash (and shoe collection!) is something of a rebellion!
I definitely get where you're coming from with the idea that the next one will be the perfect one! I definitely have things that I buy with good intentions but then, like you say, they're too much faff and I don't bother. My mum only wears red lipstick. That's it. No other make-up. She doesn't think makeup is shallow, I just think she can't be bothered! Mind you, I didn't start wearing makeup until I was 19. Then it was only eye makeup. It took til I was about 25/6 to start wearing a 'full face'.
As to willpower - I know I've bought things when I couldn't find clothes I liked. You can never not do up the zip on a bottle of nail varnish. But cosmetics aren't my real vice. That's books. I own hundreds and hundreds and I still buy more. I love to read and comfort reading is my big thing when I feel crap.
I think my buying probably went to its most out of control when I was bigger so it was probably because I didn't want to look at clothes. I've lost the weight now but not stopped buying the toiletries!
    What are my triggers.
The main triggers are a product that is failing me and trying to get the perfect version of it. From needing a decent foundation, nude lip and sun tan lotion- sometimes it draws you into pharmacy and department stores, hunting for the ideal. So much money has been spent on stuff that is useless- poor pigments in eyeshadows and lipsticks for example, frustrate me as it could have paid for part of the good stuff. I think the youtube research, allows better decisions and more informed purchases. If I’m going to spend over 5 quid I want it to be considered, I even google reviews in the shop now, prior to purchase.
I think for me YouTube (and beauty blogs) can go either way. It's stopped me buying some stuff because I've seen swatches and thought it looked crap. But it also introduces me to stuff I didn't know I needed! I get a bit obsessed with 'empties' videos from time to time, which I suppose fits in with liking this thread.

I haven't quoted everyone but thanks for your replies everyone!
  • Couple of UU today.
    25. Lush Ickle Baby Bot Bath Ballistic. WBA. It's not very strong but I like the smell. One of their cheaper ones too which is good. Made the water a nice pale blue. Until I used Prince Charming shower gel anyway!
    26. Garnier Intense Care Moisturising Cream mini pot. I got this in the pound shop. It's basically Garnier's version of Nivea Soft. It was nice, sank in quick and wasn't greasy. WBA

I've TA a Lush Trichomania Solid Shampoo. It had gone rock hard and I hated trying to get the bits of coconut out of my hair anyway. That was my last Lush hair product and I don't think I'm going to bother trying any more. They do not agree with me.

Trying to resist the new Body Shop British Rose range; I love roses. Also found out they do NYX on Asos so steering clear of that. I know they do it on Boots online too but I hate their website.
Have a nice evening everyone! :)
  • Got a UU today:

Imperial leather muscle tonic bath cream 500ml- Wmba I think this was aimed at men really as it had a masculine scent. I did like it though especially as I'm ill at the moment, I could actually smell it and I can't smell a lot currently! I was a bit over generous with it and finished it off today but I wanted a long soak with lots of bubbles and it's cheap enough so. It makes the water a nice pinky colour and if you are generous like me, a ton of lovely bubbles. I personally don't think you can go far wrong with imperial leather as a budget bath soak, never paid over a quid for one as always on offer and there's loads of different scents. I can still smell it on me a few hours later so the scent has a bit of staying power on the skin too. Got a load more bubble baths including more imperial leather in other scents so no need to buy any more bath stuff yet. I'm thinking I will replace this with a body shop honeymania bubble bath from my stash as I'm using honeymania body butter and shower gel currently.

i'm exactly the same, it used to make me feel better as an eyeshadow could never make me feel "big" and even though I've lost most of the weight and could look at clothes again and not feel bad, its like I'm scarred for life and daren't go near so I'm still buying the toiletries!

    UU:
Josie Maran - mini organ oil. WNBA, put this on my hair as a treatment and it did make it softer.
Ren - day and night cream minis - these were a mag free gift i think. WNBa, i prefer the Liz Earle and these are a bit too heavy for my skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Balm - WNBA, this was overpriced and did nothing a much cheaper and nicer cleanser wouldn't do!
  • Three UU's today.

23 Essence Lip Liner in Cute Pink. I have a back up of this and have enjoyed using this.
24 Maybelline falsies mascara. Will buy again someday.
25 Baylis & Harding Royale Bouquet Rose & Honeysuckle Body Wash. Used this up quite fast. Was okay for a bubble bath to relax because it actually smelt like lavenders. As a body wash it was very gloopy and fell in the shower whilst I was trying to use it on my body. Hate it when my body wash does that!

One UU for me - it's a bit slow at the moment!

    - Burts Bees' Coconut Foot Cream. WDNBA! i've seen mixed reviews of this from other people on here, but I'm definitely in the 'hated it' camp. Shame, as I like Burts Bees' stuff in general, but this was horrible and gloopy sticky gel - not a cream at all. And didn't sink in well. Just ick.

Unfortunately quite a lot of in's just delivered by the postie :o
I got the AllBoxedUp Feb Organic Surge box, as I really wanted the Serum again - I'm convinced that's my HG serum. It was £23.50 for the Serum, or £24.99 for a whole box of stuff from ABU, so I went for that, sorry! It will all eventually get used though :A

    Organic Surge:
    REFRESHING FACE WASH (95ml)
EXTRA CARE - BRIGHTENING HOT CLOTH CLEANSER (75ml)
EXTRA CARE REPLENISHING FACIAL OIL (30ml) (I've almost finished by first bottle of this, so that was good timing!)
EXTRA CARE ULTRA LIGHT OIL CONTROL LOTION (50ml)
EXTRA CARE INTENSIVE SMOOTHING SERUM (30ml)
    SWEET BLOSSOM BODY CREAM (150ml)
COMFORTING HAND AND NAIL CREAM (75ml)
    REVIVING EYE GEL (15ml)

1)Nivea eye make up remover - wba - very gentle.
2)Tesco baby wipes - everyday essential
3)Lush so white - I like lush products, this one was ok, didn't really smell wintery but was nice enough.
4)Skin wisdom youth protect eye treatment - wba - felt like it actually tightened a bit
5)Avon Bella perfume - Wdnba - I found this to be a very light perfume, I could barely smell it myself, felt like it was bland, nothing special.
6)Soft & gentle deodorant - the pink one - Jasmine & coca milk - Eva, does what it says on the tin.
7)Tesco pro formula citrus anti dandruff shampoo.- I like this product, I have another one in my pp list to use up but I do think Tesco have discontinued it.
8)Sample of Black XS perfume Wmba, was quite nice but someone I know wears this regularly so I think of it as their perfume.

    TA
Boots hairspray- WBA - does what it says on the tin. Had to throw this away because I knocked it into the toilet - joys of being clumsy.

Everything is just dragging on for me. I did repaint my nails last night with OPI I'm all ears, it is a bright pink with shimmer and it went nicely with the pink flowers on the dress I wore for work.
