I forgot to say that I hit pan on my Benefit Dandelion this morning - I reckon it will still last a very long time.

I hit pan on my Dandelion in April 2014 and it kept on going until February 2015. I miss it now though.
Just curious as I seem to have no willpower compared to most of you, what triggers you to buy apart from needing things?

Good question. I always believe that, despite all of the previous failures, THIS one is the product that is going to make my hair un-frizzy, my nose smaller, my eyes bigger and my life perfect. I have a big stash of unused weird hair products that are too much faff to use and a LOT of eyeliner (I am not brave enough to wear eyeliner).

My mum wore no makeup at all as I was growing up and is always telling me that women who present themselves well are shallow . . . so I suppose my stash (and shoe collection!) is something of a rebellion!

  • [STRIKE]- Soap & Glory lime body scrub mini [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]- No 7 Sand eyeshadow, bought in 2007[/STRIKE] :j
    - Rimmel Stay Matte primer - I cut this open and there is TONS left :(
[STRIKE]- Sanctuary Spa Heel Balm - nearly done [/STRIKE]
[strike]- L'oreal extraordinary oil cream - just a scraping left! [/STRIKE]
4/5 gone and I am going to chuck the primer at the end of the month as it is going a bit funny with being cut open.

I have also used up :
3 sample sachets of moisturiser (I liked the Clinique day one . . . totally out of budget),
a shower gel - Soap & Glory Lime Sugar Crush - fine
conditioner - Aussie Miracle Moist - this gave me horrible silicone-y buildup
two Body Shop body butters - Moringa and Satusuma - way too heavily scented for me, I love the coconut one and will stick to it

    But some INs:
Maybelline gel finish top coat - I always get chips in my nail varnish - have tried it once and it hasn't helped at all :(
Simple micellar water - love this and do get through it, it was on 2 for £4 in Boots

Nearly March already! Where does the time go! Excited to put my March PP list together.

Home made moisturiser - I made it for my face but used it up on my feet!! I need to give up making cosmetics and leave it to the experts - this was far too oily.

As to willpower - I know I've bought things when I couldn't find clothes I liked. You can never not do up the zip on a bottle of nail varnish. But cosmetics aren't my real vice. That's books. I own hundreds and hundreds and I still buy more. I love to read and comfort reading is my big thing when I feel crap.

  • What are my triggers.

The main triggers are a product that is failing me and trying to get the perfect version of it. From needing a decent foundation, nude lip and sun tan lotion- sometimes it draws you into pharmacy and department stores, hunting for the ideal. So much money has been spent on stuff that is useless- poor pigments in eyeshadows and lipsticks for example, frustrate me as it could have paid for part of the good stuff. I think the youtube research, allows better decisions and more informed purchases. If I’m going to spend over 5 quid I want it to be considered, I even google reviews in the shop now, prior to purchase.
Below a fiver I have a weakness for special offers- most of my body products are from the bargain bin (quality stuff reduced over 75%). The bigger the discount the greater the thrill. I receive a lot of samples which stops me from being bored. Half price great quality lip sticks in high street brands make me interested but 70% off I’m happy. GWP never really appeals to me, I can think of two or three times I’ve ever received an item. I tend to splurge when I want to mark an event- some people buy shoes or handbags.

    UU
Nivea eye make up remover - wba - very gentle.
Tesco baby wipes - everyday essential
Lush so white - I like lush products, this one was ok, didn't really smell wintery but was nice enough.
Skin wisdom youth protect eye treatment - wba - felt like it actually tightened a bit
Avon Bella perfume - Wdnba - I found this to be a very light perfume, I could barely smell it myself, felt like it was bland, nothing special.
Soft & gentle deodorant - the pink one - Jasmine & coca milk - Eva, does what it says on the tin.
Tesco pro formula citrus anti dandruff shampoo.- I like this product, I have another one in my pp list to use up but I do think Tesco have discontinued it.
Sample of Black XS perfume Wmba, was quite nice but someone I know wears this regularly so I think of it as their perfume.

    TA
Boots hairspray- WBA - does what it says on the tin. Had to throw this away because I knocked it into the toilet - joys of being clumsy.

    In
Tesco pro shaving gel x 2 another tesco 49p bargain
Palmolive shaving cream - 48p in tesco
Palmolive shave stick - 15p in tesco
Johnsons Baby wipes. - everyday essential.

Proberly more to come, I expect I've got "lost" stuff stashed away which I will come across, I think it's quite a collection for someone who never wore make up which explains why there's so much of it I suppose. Will add hair removal in the list such as razors, shaving gel, cream soon.
  • My triggers for buying were/ are to make myself feel better, shopping makes me feel better about stuff (in the short term afterwards I feel guilty) and I guess also because I was telling myself that they were items I would use and were a bargain at the time and would save me money later on, only I was buying so much that it probably ended up not being such a bargain!! I'm starting to realise now that the offers will always be around and it's not a bargain while it's still sat in a plastic tub in storage. I also worry that things I like will be discontinued so I have a compulsion to stash away things I like "just in case". And then I also love things that smell nice and trying new things so I couldn't help myself from buying everything I liked the smell of. Generally toiletries are relatively cheap which didn't help me stashing them either. I'm actively avoiding eBay and supermarket toiletry aisles now as I know they are triggers for me. Especially eBay, it's too easy to put a bid in or buy online as you're not physically handing over the cash.

    2 UU to report:

Simple refreshing facial wash gel- WBA nice enough and did the job. Don't need to buy anymore facial washes currently as I have some in stash.

Boots royal jelly body souffle 40ml- WBA this had a nice scent, rubbed in ok if didn't use too much of it. It was a thicker consistency than a lotion, which I liked. Don't need anymore lotions/creams/butters but would use again.

Whilst I do colour my hair I have found that I love the John Freda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery range. It's not specifically to preserve colour but my hair drys out because of the treatments. Sadly my hair needs to be coloured regularly so I'd rather look after the condition than the colour. My daughter however loves the Bleach London range for looking after her hair when it's coloured. Can be bought in Boots.

    More INs and a UU.

My Avon order arrived yesterday. Ordered 2 X matte lipsticks which got me the GWP of liquid liner, eyeshadow duo and nail colour called Naked Lunch which looks gorgeous. Lipstick colours are Wild Cherry and Red Supreme. Tried the Wild Cherry one yesterday and was very impressed by the colour and creamy texture. Will try the red one at weekend I think.

UU : LUSH Holly Golightly. Love this. Hope they release it every Christmas.

  • 1 UU, Lush Gorgeous, nice and hydrating body lotion but it didn't last very long. It was a small pot from a gift set though.
