Sounds like the RBS machines which are far better than the antiquated system my bank has.

    Actually it's Halifax.

This is taking the thread off topic.
For the record I haven't said anyone on this thread is a liar.
What I have said is this oft repeated story was told to me.
The person first told me " their daughter had seen" the person car etc then on another occasion they forgot what they'd originally told me and it had changed to " I saw it myself". And all their facts were incorrect..
Until the Daily Fail produces an investigation and produce photos of these apocryphal Mercedes .....

    Moving on..

I know that it's 6 year old news but the self service deposit facilities at Barclays are still exactly the same.
Last time I was in a Barclays last year, they still had them. Santander ones at least make you put your card and PIN in first to register the deposit and place an audit trail. I've since switched both banks. I've described Halifax above - I haven't had to deposit at TSB yet but I might have a look and report back.
I need to think of something new here...

I prefer to keep people in jobs so avoid the automated machines where at all possible.

Why do you want to put the people who make self-service machines out of a job? What did they do to you?

How lucky we are to have a choice. Choose to use the machine for speed and convenience, choose to use a teller for anything a bit more involved. It also means the tellers aren't tied up doing jobs a machine does perfectly well.

The greeter in our main office is there to help those who want to get in and out and enjoy some of their lunch hours, to help people who want a teller to get the right queue number so they go to the person best suited to help them, and generally help to reduce the amount of waiting around for the busy and confusion for the confused.

Can't really blame a business for wanting to be efficient and effective for its customers

I am intrigued how you know I always like to be right. I've not posted that much this year as i've been busy yet you've been a member for only a few weeks. Are you a member who has been PPR'd and come back as a new (potentially better) model?
As for my member status, whilst it is of no business of yours, you are aware that historic threads can be viewed by non-members? A user with a post count as high as yours does crop up when one is googling certain subjects.

A brief scan through your past posts indicates:

I realise this is a little off-topic, but I hope this story will make you smile.

I left my hometown at 21 in 1977. When I returned in 2005, I went into a Walmart and a jolly chap around my age greeted me with gusto. I thought I must have known him, so I apologised for not recognising him and asked him how he knew me. He was so flustered he turned and walked away. Watching him from a distance I soon realised my mistake.

Are you saying it's not true?

I know for a fact the big issue seller in my town owns his own house. He also has a gym membership as I've seen him in there and he even has his gym kit next to him while he's selling his big issue. Doesn't sound like someone who's hard up to me. He's been selling for ages as well, easily 10 years. I know this first hand, it's not info that's been passed on.

Not saying it true in all cases and I'm sure it does some good but it's certainly not true all big issue sellers are needy.

Isn't that the point? When you buy the big issue you are not supposed to be doing it as an act of charity...you are supposed to be carrying out a business transaction because you actually want the magazine.Surely the whole idea is that they make money from it, and pay for things with said money.

If you don't think the magazine is worth the money you shouldn't be buying it; it's just a waste of the printing costs.
