I've heard that urban myth before

But also in my town where I know for a fact it's a lie.
It's usually based on racism.
It often involves large wads of cash and a bookies too..
Oh and a big house-but haven't you claimed that one before too..0 -
I am also no fan of the automatic deposit machines based on personal experience.
I bank with Barclays and the system in my branch involves filling in relevant details on a type of envelope which has a tear-off slip which has a number matching that of the envelope. The envelope then goes into a box in the wall. No receipt is given.
Having deposited a cheque which failed to reach my account I complained and was amazed to be told that anyone could pick up an envelope keep the tear-off without putting anything in the box.
Fortunately I had a letter that came with the cheque which showed the cheque numbers. After about a week the bank " found" my cheque. I wonder what would have happened had it been a cash deposit.
I much prefer to hand in money to a cashier and get a receipt.0 -

I know that it's 6 year old news but the self service deposit facilities at Barclays are still exactly the same.

Where will all this "self service" end?? Next thing, we'll be having to put our own fuel in our cars instead of sticking 4 fingers up at the rain soaked petrol pump attendant.
Sorry, did someone just say virtually all petrol stations are self service? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I've no objection to self service petrol stations but I do think that some of them are taking the pi55 when they have a box on the counter for tips or staff bonuses at Christmas time.
If someone filled up my car with fuel, cleaned the windscreen or checked the oil I would have no problem leaving a tip buy why would I tip them simply because they took my money?0 -

Are you saying it's not true?
I know for a fact the big issue seller in my town owns his own house. He also has a gym membership as I've seen him in there and he even has his gym kit next to him while he's selling his big issue. Doesn't sound like someone who's hard up to me. He's been selling for ages as well, easily 10 years. I know this first hand, it's not info that's been passed on.
Not saying it true in all cases and I'm sure it does some good but it's certainly not true all big issue sellers are needy.0 -
How dare they not be visibly and transparently needy enough.
If you know him so well, no doubt you've discussed his life circumstances, asked to see his mortgage documents and how he started doing that.0 -

Do you want video evidence and his reg number?
And haven't I claimed what one too? Eh?0 -

Far be it for me to accuse anyone on the internet of lying.0
